Don’t get me wrong, I love spending time with my FI and ultimately, I prefer being with him, than without him. But, I have to be honest, each Monday, he goes and plays in a pick-up basketball league from 7-10pm at the local gym. Between travel and his game time, he is gone for about 4 hours. I have to be honest, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the time I have in the house alone.
Why you might ask?
1. It’s my favorite night for tv shows that he doesn’t like. I can watch hours of Love it or List It, House Hunters and Property Virgins.
2. I can cook delicious ethnic dishes (he is very picky, but on Monday’s he makes his own dinner before going to basketball–so I can make whatever I want).
3. I can spend endless hours on the Weddingbee, the Knot and looking at various wedding websites without getting the side eye. 🙂
4. I can have the TV on, my music turned up, surf the web and eat on the couch all at the same time!!! (Lol, it drives my FI nuts when I eat in the living room/on the couch–he doesn’t like the crumbs).
So, do any other bees enjoy occasional evenings home alone?

Absolutely. Kinda hard to phrase to FI though.

Yup, I love nights to myself.

hell YES, i love having nights alone. i can watch all the foreign films i want without being interrupted, i don’t have to cook dinner, i can spend my time working on my projects in peace, and i love talking to my mom on the phone when i have the house alone. i can gossip, vent, and just be silly with her without my FI hearing every word. i love spending time alone but i do NOT like sleeping alone.

@bmo88: I love DHs basketball night!!!!!

I’m enjoying an evening alone right now… DH just left to play hockey. I’m the same way in that I love spending time with him and miss him when he’s gone, but I sure do LOVE my alone time. (I grew up with 6 brothers and sisters… alone time didn’t exist for me until I went to college!) I’m watching bad tv, eating ice cream for dinner, and hanging out on weddingbee. It’s glorious. But I do look forward to when he comes home and kisses me goodnight 🙂

Sigh what is alone time? Even if DH is gone like he was this past weekend for a golf tournament, I had our son. I don’t recall a time here in the last year that I actually had the house for more than a few hours to myself.

@missebelle: Haha, I love chatting with my mom as well when FI isn’t around. Idk why, but it’s so much nicer/easier to gossip/talk about pointless things.
@joya_aspera: Yes, I don’t know exactly how I would phrase it to him either. I think he actually enjoys times when I am not home as well. He can play his xbox or watch baseball games uninterrupted.

I do too. My FI understands though because I love to scrapbook and he loves to play video game and do guy things like airsoft. We like the time apart because its activities the other person doesn’t enjoy. We enjoy doing things like movies and stuff that aren’t fun without each other too though. Its all about balance 🙂

I’m all alone right now… sitting in a dark living room, watching netflix and browsing the bee and it is sooooo peaceful. I love the few minutes I get of quiet like this.
But with that said, I just recently got custody of my niece. So went from not having my own kids to being a full time “parent” to a teenage girl. yap yap yap blah blah blah
And FI and I are together ALL the time! So this is heaven!!!

I love a bit of alone time. I get to watch whatever I want and treat myself to a junky dinner if I’m lucky.

I love it too! I can talk to my friends for hours without being interrupted or feeling like I have to include DH. I can eat badly. I can watch trashy TV.
The weird thing is DH is so easy going that he doesn’t care if I do any of this stuff. It’s just the feeling being completely selfish that’s nice every now and then.

Ofcourse…are there people who don’t???
I think it’s both healthy and necessary. You can’t be tied to the hip 24/7.
