Since if there is uneassacary drama, or if the thread has gotten to far off track, that’s when the threads are shut down. Oh, and blatant violations of the tos.

The mods do a pretty good job of trying to keep the drama and snark to a minimum. I appreciate it, because nothing is worse than comming on the be and becoming p.0.ed over a hot thread.

I think when it gets up to a certain number of pages it bogs the site down and makes things run more slowly, so that’s why those ones get closed.  Also, the OP can request it to get closed for any reason, so sometimes it’s not the mod’s choice it was the OP’s request.

I’ve never seen a thread shut down without some serious drama, or if it’s really off-topic.  Usually they post a warning that they’ll shut it down if it doesn’t calm down or get back on track, too.  I think the mods do a great job balancing differing opinions with blantant attacks and snark!

What’s more, there are times when everyone’s just saying the same thing over and over again.  When no new points or ideas are being expressed and people are just blowing off steam, I understand the thought that the thread has “run its course.”

Wow! You all did a great job of explaining it, I’m going to take the rest of the day off 😉   And now I feel like this thread has run its course so I’m going to close it.
