We are bringing our own beer. We're getting a keg of Mac and Jack's from the brewery here in Seattle and then a keg of Dead Guy from Rogue Brewing. We're hoping that's enough for our 130 guests.
My FI is a microbrew snob, so only the best for him!
We had two choices. They had to be draft beers. We chose Yuengling Lager and Heineken.
We also get to bring our own beer. Very fortunate we get to bring kegs :) We are picking Fat Tire (a local favorite here in Ft. Collins) along with Miller Lite- a beer most of our guests will enjoy. I can't imagine paying by the bottle!
We bought our own beer, and we bought by the bottle because we really didn't think an entire keg would be used (>60 guests). We bought a big variety... mostly just because we could. :) We got Corona, Fat Tire, Blue Moon, Honeymoon (by Blue Moon), Sam Adams Boston Lager and Summer Ale, and two local microbrews.
I think your list sounds fine and gives a good variety.
i've heard so much about Fat Tire beer..is is that good? We could order a keg of whatever we wanted..we chose Bud Light, cuz there's a local distributor in town.
We are furnishing our own but we are doing blue moon also. We love that beer.
I personally like your top three very much :) I am doing those exact same and having Abita as my fourth because it is a regional brew that hopefully my guest will enjoy!
Ha ha! So much Fat Tire love! I remember when I used to get excited when I could find it anywhere outside of Ft C! That's awesome.
We'll be getting a couple kegs from the Palisade Brewery but we haven't decided which flavors yet. Tastings are definitely in order!
FI wanted Bud for his friends (Yuck!).
I told him my people don't do Bud, so the other beer is Yuengling Lager (cos we live in PA!)
One keg of each for the pig roast!
I like all of those! Heineken is my favorite. I think people will be happy with that selection. :)
Love love love Fat Tire. I love all the NB beers. We buy their folly pack pretty regularly just to get a little of everything. Mighty Arrow might be my favorite.
We're trying to keep it local for us though, so we're going with choices from Summit (brewery in St. Paul) and Leinenkugels (brewery in the WI area my FI's family is from). Possibly something from Surly too. It's a tough choice with so many options, Minnesota/Wisconsin takes its beer very seriously. I'm HOPING the Summit Oktoberfest will still be out at the time of our wedding, it's one of my all time favorite beers. Otherwise I'm not sure exactly which beers we'll pick from the two breweries yet. Too difficult of a decision!Oh - Minneapolitan - great suggestions! I'm getting married in MN and might have to copy you with the Summit!
We're buying our own alcohol. I'm ordering a keg of Heineken and a couple cases of Corona. We'll also have strawberry reisling and an assortment of non-alcoholic drinks.
@Mrs. Spring- with 8 different varieties did you find that people drank most of it? I'm afraid the more choices you get, the greater the chance for things to go to waste.
mklove-my fiance pines for Yuengling! Can't get it here in Ohio!
We are going to be talking to our venue soon about alcoholic beverages. So we don't know yet!
Another shout out for Yuengling Lager! We had that, Labbatt's, Miller Light and something else I can't remember.
thinking I'm going to have to go seek out some Fat Tire!
Minneopolitan- Beer has a pretty good shelf life, so you coud always stock up on Oktoberfest the month before and serve it at the wedding if its what you REALLY want.
@AbbyM Definitely! They have so many great beers - Summit is just the automatic go-to brewery for all of my friends and family. The EPA is probably the most popular, I think. But if you're getting married in October, like I said, their Oktoberfest is so so delicious!
We have total control over all alcohol because our venue & caterer don't provide anything. They can order it for you but then they add delivery costs so we're going to get it ourselves.
We're having Heinekin and then various wines. I'm also getting my FI a 6 pack of Moose Drool for a surprise/gift. He doesn't drink much beer so I wanted him to have a kind he likes. I'll give it to him before the ceremony so that our photog can take a picture of him drinking a beer with his Dad, and Grandpas. :)

We hosted beer and wine at our reception. Although we had a few beer connoisseurs at the wedding, my HUGE extended family considers Budweiser THE beer of choice. So, we got a keg of that, and we also got a keg of Miller Lite b/c we knew that was popular with most of our friends. They weren’t the “fanciest” of beers, but for our guests, they were great! (Buying kegs from our caterers was WAY less expensive than serving from bottles. That is why we limited ourselves to 2 kinds of beer...we didn't have enough guests to buy 3.)
We had to bring in all the alcohol, so we were able to pick our own. We went for all local-ish brews... in Philly, for us that's Yuengling, Yards, and Philadelphia Brewing Co. And as a bonus, the PBC beer is brewed about three blocks from our house!
Also - we could only do bottles, but MOB was insistent that no one carry them around - she had it written into the contract that all beer had to be poured into glasses.
We're bringing in all our own booze. =) Right now we're thinking bringing in bottled/canned stuff -- coolers, beer, cider, wine (woo-hoo boxes!), maybe some bottles of sparkling wine/cider for a toast (pop, juice, water, and sparkling juice for the kids/non-booze drinker). And, when it runs out, it's gone!
We might also do a "punch or water" option. We'd have alcoholic punch, non-alcoholic punch, and water. Maybe a couple other drinks.
@El Capataz -- We are actually bringing our own kegs of booze for the wedding. Since this decision is being left up to my parents I am thinking that one of the kegs will be either a Coors Lite or Miller Lite. We suggested Yuengling but my Dad disagreed.
I think the beer you selected are great choices! A variety of flavors should work.
BTW -- I used to live in Malvern =)
The beers you selected sound great!! My guests would be very happy!!!
We unfortunately can not bring our own beer. We have to order Kegs from them (cheaper then just serving it from the bar) and it is $300+ a keg!!! RIDICULOUS!
I hope you have an amazing wedding!!
I totally forgot about an Oktoberfest beer! I can't have it all but since we are doing the RD at a brewhouse, I'm sure we'll have some there.
@RoddyBride09 - getting married at The Desmond.
@El Capataz, I have never been to The Desmond but from what I do know about it, it is beautiful! Your wedding will be fantastic!
Good luck with everything!
@ MissCamera - Well, we didn't want to buy a keg because we thought it'd be wasted and only give our guests one choice. Instead we bought 2 cases of Corona and Fat Tire, and one case of everything else. We also had some variety packs of the Smirnoff wine coolers and we provided several variaties of wine, sparkling cider, and champagne. We did have a lot left over, but we had a little bit of everything, so that was kinda nice. We weren't planning on returning the over-bought booze anyway.

Our reception venue offered three types of beer but we were able to bump it to four. The rule was that you can only have 1 import, 2 domestics and 1 micro-brew. Also - only bottles and no draft.
We selected:
1. Heineken
2. Miller Lite
3. Blue Moon
4. Victory
Did your recpetion gave you the freedom of selecting the beer you wanted? What did you choose?
