I received FI’s ring today after waiting too long! I was so excited, but when I opened the box I was so disappointed…
The ring itself is exactly like I ordered, but I am not happy with the engraving, which I had to pay extra for. You can hardly see the engraving, it is so small and thin. it looks nothing like the examples on their website.
my other problem is with the fact that the company has their logo engraved right next to my phrase, and it is bigger and thicker than my actual words (mine is 3 words, theirs is one word but it takes up the exact same space on the ring). when you look at the ring, all you see is the stupid logo.
So my question to you bees: is it standard practice for the company to include their logo inside the ring? could you show me a picture of yours?

@blastkiss: I would be upset with a logo on my ring. I never seen that before

I think it’s pretty common to have the logo. My engagement ring has a couple of stamps in it, but I can’t quite make out what they are.

@blastkiss: ….. picking our bands up tomorrow and now I’m worried, lol. But I dont know what logo the rings would have. They are from Adiamor (like blue nile) ….. Do you have the choice to have them re-do it? They can always polish it out.

@blastkiss: Mine has a maker’s stamp, as does my mum’s, but, they’re very small and discreet (mine is tiny; similar size to the hallmarks).
I would expect an engraving to be fairly big and obvious. If it is very small and faint, there is also the risk that if the ring is ever polished, it will fade. Obviously it can be re-done, but a lot of people wouldn’t want to do that.
If you aren’t happy, and feel it doesn’t accurately reflect the examples on their website, I would contact them and arrange to send it back, or, I would see if an independent, local jeweller can re-do it for you.

@blastkiss: You need to ask them to fix it. That isn’t right.

My band is too thin for that, but I’d be super annoyed if their logo were bigger than my words! grrr! I’d contact them.

Sorry for not replying guys, I didn’t have internet access. Thanks for all your answers and recommendations!
I complained to the owner of the company, but unfortunately they refused to change it. He mentioned that a lot of people had complained about the engraving, which would make you think they would be able to change it, but no. Also, he said the pictures on the website was to show that they can actually DO engraving, and not what it will LOOK like.
admittedly, the ring is tungsten carbide, which is nearly impossible to engrave on. But that’s why I searched high and low to find a company that does the ring and engraving. And the fact that their logo is engraved right on there very clearly, shows that it can be done.
Anyway, I’ve decided that it’s just not worth the fight as the ring is beautiful and totally complements my rings. However, I definitely won’t be recommending this company to any friends about to get married.
