I was just wondering do you prefer your gown to have a corset back or zip ???
What are the advantages and disadvantages of these besides from the preference of the look? I’m assuming the corset back would show you slimmer?

@honeybee111: I liked the corset because I didn’t really have to watch what I ate/my weight (within reason). However, it was incredibly uncomfortable, but I’m a t-shirt and yoga pants type of girl so most dresses are uncomfortable to me.

Before dress shopping, I preferred the look of zip backs. I ended up with a corset back dress, though, and I LOVE IT. The alterations have been so ridiculously easy – it only needs a bustle and bra cups sewn in. I also like that I have a little bit of a safety net if my weight fluctuates and I don’t have to stress out too much about whether it will fit right before the wedding.

My dress zips in the back. I like both styles and can certainly see the benefit of a corset back but the dress I fell in love with just happens to zip and I think a corset would be just too much going on in back for me. Thankfully my dress fits and I know my body enough to know that even if I lost 20 lbs or gained a little, my dress size tends to stay exactly the same. So I shouldn’t need any major alterations, probably just the hem.

I don’t like the way that corsets look in a wedding dress, but I understand that they’re easier to fit.

My dress has a zip back, I specifically didn’t want a corset. Not for fit reasons, I just personally don’t like the look on me.

I love the back of my dress, but sometimes I wish mine had a corset…only because I’m losing weight, and I’m REALLY worried about the fit. :/

Zipper, covered with buttons.
I don’t like the way corsets look, unless you’re tiny they never seem to look right.

I like corsets because of the flexibility regarding size, but I don’t always love the way they look. I really prefer zippers, especially with buttons. Mine has a zip with little crystal buttons which are really pretty. I am a sucker for a long row of fabric buttons, though.

Corsets…they’re so feminine and sexy without being overtly lewd :0)

Hey! Yes I can imagine.. but any wedding dress that tight would be uncomfortable right? I guess we just have to bear with it for 1 day :))

Woww! Your gown is absolutely stunning! And yes you’re right it would be safe to go for a corset back… I do like the look of the buttoned zip back but the corset can look really nice aswell depending on the dress.
After trying on many wedding dresses I also realized that the corset back is more figure hugging!!!

Your dress is really nice!! Don’t worry… I’m sure they can alter your dress at the bridal store just to fit you perfectly before your wedding :))
