So last night I had a pretty elaborate and not so pleasant dream about my wedding. I usually have pretty vivid dreams but this one was just a bit too detailed and negative!
It started with me walking into church from one of the side entrances and everyone just continued chatting and noone paid me any mind. My brain helpfully panned back to show me why this was the case. It turns out that my dress, which was supposed to a stunning and glittery creation, was actually an ivory, crocheted, bohemian number that looked half made. Zoom into my hair and it was half done, pins haphazardly put in. So I ran out of the church (and noticed on my way out that the guests did not have proper programs and noone knew what was meant to happen when). So I run outside and I grab the bridesmaids (whose dresses were some horrible stretchy cotton thing that had already started to fluff:-(). Anyway, so my sister (who in the dream is a bridesmaid but is not going to be in real life), starts scolding me for doing a shocking job on my hair and make-up. Zoom into my face, and my make-up is runny and I neglected to make my eyes up so no eye liner no mascara nothing. The dream ends with my sister just styling my hair in the way I wear it everyday and me wishing I could have a do over and look like a princess as I had originally intended.
Now, I am quite the planner and I have been feeling very proud of myself for having multiple spreadsheets going but clearly my subconscious is not so convinced that things will not go terribly wrong.
Are any fellow bees also experiencing not so nice dreams about their big day?

Oh yeah. I have this recurring one that the wedding has to be moved to a gas station. ANd it’s not even a big, nice one like a QuikTrip or an OnCue. It’s like an old, janky one where everything seems to be dimly lit and covered in a light film of motor oil.No one shows up on time (or at all in some cases) or takes it seriously, my dress gets filthy, and I just keep thinking about how this is my special day–how it was my responsibility to host the people I love in a manner that at least minimally accommodates them, and how I completely and utterly failed. How I could have done better, if I had just been more capable and worked harder, but I procrastinated/didn’t do it, and now I will never have another chance.
After this dream, the sense of disappointment and regret I feel sometimes lasts the entire day.
ETA: Seems like a common theme here is not having one’s shit together. It’s not like we are having nightmares about tornadoes or fires. It’s all stuff that’s preventable.

@DesertLady: At least once or twice a month! And I wake up horrified, in a gross sweat. I’ve had dreams of everything from my hair and makeup people not showing up, to no DJ, to not having the correct photographer…most of my dreams I’m sitting in a robe at like 5pm just chillin when I should be on my way to our ceremony. 🙁 CRAZY and I know they’re only going to get worse as we get closer to the date.

I’ve had a dream that I had to have security kick out my great-grandmother. In the dream, she pitched a fit and tried to set the venue on fire… Not sure where that came from to be honest, because she’s really old and can’t really cause any trouble.

Oh I had one a couple nights ago where I was rushing to do my makeup but we ended up sitting around forever after before the wedding started and then when I went to check myself in the mirror my face had all melted off and looked awful. I tried to salvage it but it was a disaster. Just makes me want to practice my DIY makeup again before Friday!

Yes! I’ve been having them more often. Mine seem to revolve around the fact that I’m forgetting something. One was that I completely forgot to order flowers and the second was that I forgot to pick up my dress. I always wake up panicked and realize I’ve got 8 months to go..haha.

ALL the time. I don’t feel worried about the wedding but I have nightmares about it all the time. It usually has to do with my dress/hair not working out. I had one the other night that I never ordered flowers and had to run to the grocery in my dress.

@EffieTrinket: I know the feeling hey. Now I am busy thinking of all the things I will do to make sure that the worst will not happen.
@WhatMaeBee: Once or twice a month is horrible. When did they start? I really hope I will not end up having more of these.
@Nostawyn: Hahaahahaaah. That one is too funny! Puts me to mind of that old lady from Madagscar! Hahahaahahaah.
@Pinkmoon: Oh my, and your wedding is in two days! Yeah, do the make-up trial again. I intend to do mine a few times. All the best for your big day!

I’m not engaged yet, but I keep having recurring dreams about my SO proposing to me with really bizarre rings. I blame Weddingbee.

@FutureMrsBex: Lol. Weddingbee is good for putting all sorts of ideas into your head. Heheheheeh

I planned everything in about 30 days flat-researched and booked all the vendors.
During those 30 days I was sleep deprived and tossed and turned at night because my never ending to do list kept playing in my head. I had dreams but I have no idea about what specifically….
I hope I don’t get any detailed wedding nightmares. So far so good.

@DesertLady: I’d say they started in October..right when we were under 1 year til the big day..I hope you don’t either! I am totally type A and obsessive, so that’s probably why I get them frequently.
@WhatMaeBee: Unfortunately I am a Type A too. Hence the multiple lists and timelines. Urgh.
@Happy Hopeful Bee: So the 30 days are done and you have nothing further to do? That is pretty awesome but seems like a good way to limit the stress to a short amount of time and just relax for the rest of the time.

I keep having the nightmare that we are getting married in my parents backyard and they didn’t put a piece of wood over the pool so people were walking right into the pool, like they were blind, in nice suits and all. I’ve had this same dream three times, and I’ve only been engaged since July.

@alysee: Oh my. That is pretty horrible. Don;t forget to get the pool covered!
