I love both, but the second one is breathtaking and fits the theme so well.
I like them both as well but they are very different dresses. The first one, I think, does not appear to be too snug at all. I think it very much compliments your figure. The second one is lovely as well and resonates a completely different bride to me. If I had to choose, I'd go with #2.
Gah, this is a hard decision! I can see both dresses working for the type of wedding that you desire, but I think the 2nd dress is more flattering on you.
# 2 Definitely! It's AMAZING! It looks gorgeous on you! Don't get caught up with all the tv wedding hoopla. You will be a beautiful bride regardless of the label on your dress :)
I think they both look great on you. TOTALLY different looks. The first one is very sexy, the second one feels more traditional bride to me. I think i like the 2nd one better. And it has POCKETS!!!!
I also vote for #2! It's beautiful and probably a lot easier to breathe and sit and move in!
Ohh thank you so much again ladies!! I really do appreciate the input! I think because they're such different style dresses it makes it even harder to decide. But what's funny is that I don't consider myself to be very traditional at all, so i'm surprised in how much i'm absolutely drawn to this dress! Perhaps i'm a little more traditional than I thought :)
haha..and I must admit that the pockets and being able to actually breathe is definitely a huge plus!
I like the first dress because it's so figure flattering. But I always like that look. If I were you, I would definately wait to make a decision. You have plenty of time. In my own personal experience, I didn't know the type of dress I wanted until much closer to the wedding, when it was all coming together. Unfortunately I bought my dress 8 months prior. I like the dress, but it wasn't what I would have chosen had I had more time.
"Being able to breathe" is exactly why I voted for the second dress :)
They're both gorgeous on you, but you look like you have the same tummy pooch I have, and the first dress definitely shows it off, while the second one hides it. When I was trying on dresses, I was super worried about 'food baby' belly showing up at the reception, haha.
I like both dresses, but if you're going for the 40s glamor theme, I think the Pnina is actually a better fit.
However, overall, I think I like the second dress slightly better :)
Just keep in mind the costs you'd be eating as well. This happened to me. I bought a once-wed gown, and in the end, I didn't like it, and I bought another dress (that was luckily incredibly cheap). Our wedding was last September, and I have yet to sell the first dress. I've even offered it at like 80 percent off, and no takers! It's hard to sell a twice-wed dress (even though I didn't even wear it on our wedding day). So, I'm pretty much counting on being out the $1500 I paid for first dress. Oh well. In the end, it was worth it for me to get the new dress (but it was only $300 with alterations - short dress).
Good luck!
# 2 hands down! This one was easy ;)
That is a dress you will look breath taking in, young and sweet, and can dance the night away!!
I like the second more. I don't think the first is very bridal. Fit and flare can be lovely, but it fits so far down that even if it wasn't so tight, I just don't think it's all that bridal. It looks to me more like something you would wear walking the red carpet rather than getting married in. I also think the second dress is so much more romantic and classic. The second dress doesn't look like something you will see pictures of in 20 years and think that it is so out of style as you would the first.
I love the second one - but that is just because I love that dress! Whatever dress makes your heart go "wow" is the one you need to get. I think you said it best in your post, the second dress made you go wow.
When I went dress shopping I wanted the mermaid style because that was all I was seeing on shows like say yes to the dress - the glam sexy look - but when I was pulled more of a ballgown (which I didnt want) I couldnt believe how much it made my heart skip - it was the one. You know what dress is the one - and you should go for it! You really do look stunning in that second dress!
I voted for the Allure only because you said it goes with your theme better, in all honesty I like the the Pnina more...
@Mrs. Louboutin: Exactly what I was thinking. Love the second one, you can't go wrong with that one!
The second dress is so romantic and lovely! And it'll probably be a little more comfortable to wear all day. :)
I personally prefer the look of the Pnina more and actually think it would fit the 40's theme better, but what matters is that it sounds like you love the other one so much more. Don't go by the brand name, go with what makes you feel best!
I think it totally depends on the look that you want. They are two completely different dresses. The Pnina dress is very sexy whereas the allure gown is much "sweeter" if that is the word for it. Personally i LOVE the allure gown, but i'm a girl who loves full skirts and pockets.
I don't think you should be concerned about the name but rather the style that you want. Also something to think about is fabric. I'm sure the pnina is higher quality and that might be something that is important to you.
i guess i'm against the odds here, but i find the first one gorgeous on you!
I like the 2nd much better as it fits your theme and is very romantic. I also agree with the PPs that said the first is more "red carpet" instead of bridal.
When it comes to designer names....no one will see the name when you walk down the aisle and there a many great designers out there, go with your gut and what you love!
I bought that Allure!! Mine will be here next week!!!! It's style 8771 from Fall 2010.
Some pics of me in it!

I personally like the first dress but I agree with the other bees, buy what you love!
You look amazing! I love both but think the Allure suits your theme a little better. Are you planning on selling the Pnina then?
Oh, I wanted to add that the Allure was my second dress also. I traded in a fitted, mermaid ($1700!) Alfred Sung and went with this dress.
@Gemstone thank you!! ...even though I don't feel new since i've been lurking for so long
@zippylef you look gorgeous! It makes me warm and fuzzy inside to see the dress on other brides :) now I just want to go try the dress on again!
Again, my dear bees, I truly appreciate everyone's input & advice! After much deliberation, even though it may not seem like it, I think i'm going to go with my gut and try to get the Allure gown. I do personally feel more bridal in it, and I honestly think i've been avoiding feeling 'bridal' because I thought that in some crazy way it would make the wedding feel less 'serious' since I kind of dread the wedding day turning into some oober sad/emotional day. Buuut, i'm excited now! It is what it is, now I can enjoy being a bride and i'll embrace all the emotions that come along with getting married :)
Oh, @STBSchmidt With my epiphany and everything, i've decided that I will go ahead and sell the Pnina gown. I was actually going to list the Pnina gown in the next few days on the preownedweddingdresses site and the weddingbee classifieds most likely. Would you by any chance be interested? :) harharr
@bluedobie: Haha. I felt the same way! I was like "HOLY CRAP! Thats my dress!!". Im glad I clicked on your post. You look fabulous in it too. What price did they quote you on it?
My exact thoughts as I scrolled down your post, "pretty, form fitting, she has a nice figure." Then I said aloud while sitting alone at my dining room table, "OOOOOHHH, Princes!!!!" So I guess it just depends on the reaction you are going for :)
Personally, I love the Allure gown on you. It's gorgeous, looks comfortable, and fits your theme :)
I think you look beautiful in both...you just have to pick the one that makes you feel special. I love the allure gown but I have to admit that its one of the top picks in my wedding dress folder. Good luck!
I think the Pnina looks fab on you, but you LOVE the "Grace Kelly" dress...so, I vote for that!! Your dress is about you...follow your heart!!
I totally love the 2nd dress and fits in with your theme perfectly!
@zippylef:haha thank you! I'd have to go find the card they wrote everything down on for me, but I think they said that the cost of the gown would be around $581 (give or take a few bucks) and supposedly there is a current sale going on at their store for Allure gowns, where it would then be 15% off of that $581 price. Heh..seems like there's always a sale of some sort going on at a bridal salon so you'll panic and buy it immediately. :) I'm not sure if i'll get it in time for the 15% discount, but $581 sounds like music to my ears already! If you don't mind me asking, what did you end up paying for yours?
@bluedobie: Well, I was supposed to pay $673 (which is MSRP for the dress, I wonder how your salon is offering it lower... hmm...). There was s snafu with the shipping (the dress was going to arrive 6-7 weeks LATE), so I went (today, actually) and got the sample. The salon I got it from is the brick-and-mortar store for bestbridalprices.com, so teh sample wasnt a floor sample, but a dress that they had "in stock". The bridal constultant said that, to the best of her knowledge, I am the only one who has ever tried it on. Haha. Long story short, they gave me 50% off and I ended up only paying about $335 and brought the dress home today! So, warning ahead of time. Order the dress plenty in advance, Allure's factory is really backed up right now.
@zippylef:oh my goodness! I would have gone into panic mode. I'm glad that everything ultimately worked out for you, I know that now you actually have it in your possession you must be exciiiiited! I think that's part of my argument for getting the dress stuff squared away sooo early ;) haha Meh, you know i'm not sure how the bridal salon is offering it so low. I could be wrong, but I think that they somehow have all the brands/designer dresses discounted overall. I didn't realize it at the time but apparently they're "known" for being the place to get discounted gowns.
I'm debating on being bad tomorrow and going to try the dress on again and check more thoroughly and whatnot before moving on and selling my Pnina gown and purchasing another. haha..we'll see how that goes, bwahaha
You have a great figure so you can totally pull off the fit and flare but I voted for the Allure dress. It's such a great style!

Hello Bees!! First off, I have lurked for quite a while but have now come out of hiding...soo, greetings!
I am in desperate need of your help/honest opinions! Despite our wedding being a ways off, I like knowing that I have "the dress" already found and safe in my possession even if I won't be wearing it right away.
After much searching and saving, I found a Pnina Tornai gown on one of the preowned sites for around $2,000 and I love it! It's a fit and flare, but as of right now it is just a little bit snug since I have a larger caboose. I'm not worried about the dress fitting when it comes time to walk down the aisle, so when checking the photos out try to overlook any 'tightness' in areas (if that's possible) :)
Anyhow, I have been content with this dress, but in all reality it has been worn already and is in great condition, but it's not a perfectly brand spankin' new dress, if ya know what I mean. I didn't think this bothered me at all, but I do think my mom deep down wants me to have "my" own dress. So naturally, while we were out the other day (my brother is getting married in a few months) we went to go look at some 'Mother' dresses and she told me to go ahead and try on some wedding gowns "just for fun" to make sure there's nothing else out there.
And yes, low and behold, while I am trying on gowns I don't like any of them in comparison to the Pnina gown, until the consultant pulls what they have nicknamed the "Grace Kelly" gown for me..and myyyy goooodness, I was in love!! I felt the butterflies and can't stop thinking about it ever since I tried it on. It's some gown from Allure, but I can't remember the style name. AND the Allure gown goes wonderfully with our 'theme'..we are shooting for a 1940's style/big band/old hollywood feeling wedding. Oh! and it has -gasp- pockets!!
Arrggh.
Deep down I feel like that's the dress for me, but because I think i've (pathetically) been brainwashed by tv and society, I feel like i'm crazy for trading in the Pnina dress for a different gown. I also wanted to look 'sexy' and romantic-ish for our wedding, without obviously putting it all out there, and I just need help. Oy. Please feel free to tell me that i'm being crazy! I would just like your honest opinions on which dress you think looks best/nicest, etc!
Sorry this ended up longer than expected, and I apologize in advance if the pictures are gigantic!!
(the first 2 pictures are of the Pnina gown, and the last two are of the Allure gown)
Thank you so much bees! :)
