About 6-7 years ago my mom went into kidney and liver failure and the doctors had no idea what caused it. They did a lot of testing and nothing ever explained why it was happening. She was bedridden for about 4 months and was very weak. Her skin was pale and sickly grey-ish and her hair was brittle and falling out. She couldn’t even manage to eat broth and she was basically living on a day to day basis and we were in constant fear that she would no longer be with us. She miraculously recovered from that though and after several months began to look more like herself. She has seemed fine since then but the fear that something will happen again is always in the backs of our minds.
This week the results from one of her routine bloodwork exams came back (she gets these a lot because she’s hypothyroid) and they indicate that she is once again going into kidney failure. We don’t know if it’ll be like last time or not but it’s really scary. The doctors are doing a lot more blood tests now and she is going in for an ultrasound of her kidneys. The thing is, nothing that causes kidney failure appears to be wrong with her! They are suspecting possible cancer though. This is really devastating. She is only 44 years old and is a stay-at-home mom who homeschools. I have 10 younger siblings and 9 of them are currently living at home still with the youngest being only 6 years old (7 in June). This is going to be really hard on my dad too since his mother is currently fighting cancer and his father was just diagnosed with alzheimer’s and it’s moving fast.
Bees, I really really need your prayers, good thoughts, good vibes and all of that at this time. This is going to be really hard on my family and we really need my mom to be alright. We’re really scared/nervous right now about what the results of the ultrasound and testing will be. I need you all very much right now.

I’m so sorry you guys have to deal with all this at once. It’s more trajedy than one should have to deal with in a lifetime. My thoughts are with you and your family. Did the doctor explain what the plan of action will be once the test results are back? Would kidney donation be a possibility?

I’ll be praying for you and your family. My family is going through a very similar situation. I have 7 younger siblings, 4 of whom are being homeschooled (the youngest just turned 7), and my mom is sick with something. She keeps losing her breath (walking through the house!) and having heart attack like symptoms, but nothing is wrong with her heart! It’s really scary! If you ever need to talk more, feel free to PM me! We’ll be praying and keep us posted on what the doctors say!

@cant.wait.to.be.mrs.d: @BalticBee: @bananasareyellow: @wideeyes: @harperlynn:Thank you all! This means a lot to me.
@MrsRugbee: Thank you. My mother had to leave right away after telling me what happened and we haven’t been able to talk since, so I don’t know what they plan to do after the test results come back. They probably won’t know if kidney donation is a possibility though until after the results are in. Last time her liver went at the same time though and if that happens again then a kidney replacement probably wouldn’t make much difference.
@hogoboom2012: Thank you. I’m so sorry that you’re going through something similar with your own mother. It’s scary not knowing what’s wrong. Last time we felt like it was so out of our control because they couldn’t figure out what was wrong and I’m sure you feel the same way. I’ll keep your family in my prayers too.
