I have decided to go ahead and have this ring made but will have a 1.25 ruby instead of diamond. What I can’t decide is if I should have the prongs made in yellow gold or stay with the white as shown. I think ruby usually looks better with yellow gold, but I really want white gold for the band. What is your opinion? I only have a picture with a clear stone, this would be a custom order.

I have a great idea! A two-tone ring would look fabulous. Since it’s custom-made, you can get some of the filigree done in yellow and white gold.

Closest I could find to help you out. I think White Gold looks best but I’m biased, I LOVE white gold.

I think yellow looks much older. I think white is a nice breath of fresh air while keeping the antique look.

@durangogirl: I think it would look weird having yellow gold prongs.
I know it looks nice when you have yellow gold prongs to set yellow diamonds (like if it’s a platinum setting), but the yellow doesn’t really blend into the red as it does for yellow diamonds.

@durangogirl: I personally want my ruby e-ring in white or rose gold. I dont like the ones i’ve seen with two or three golds though (even though i love muti gold jewelery). I think the most important thing to think about id that your ruby is nice. The band is easier and cheaper to change later.
