No, I think you should be okay. You might want to incorporate more gold, though. Maybe napkin rings or china with a gold stripe? If you add in a little more gold, it will look more intentional. Just my 2 cents.
I doubt anyone will notice that your chairs don't match the rest of the decor. I have been to 6 weddings this year and couldn't tell you what any of the chairs looked like and me being a bride on the prowl, I noticed everything!
we were originally going to do light pink, ivory, and a pale green for accents (only in the flowers) with silver candelabra centerpieces, silver chairs, silver favor boxes. and the cake has silver accents...
Do you have any more info on your venue/colors/etc? I bet it could work! :)
I think it will be fine - you could intentionally mix the colors of the metalics in other places to tie them in if it's going to bother you. I'd throw splashes of gold in other places on table, and then maybe do something silver on or in the chair...
Just a thought!
Metallic colors can be a theme in itself. What I do with jewelry, since my e-ring is white gold but i also love yellow, is wear a piece that incorporates both. I have a necklace with alternating gold and silver circles interlooped. Maybe you could find something that incorporates both tones to make it look more planned. Honestly, most people probably wouldn't even notice anyway. If its really going to bother you though, maybe you should just pay more for the silver chairs and stick to your original plan. Just wondering what you think of the following.
I got an amazing deal on gold chiavari chairs (the silver ones were no longer available). The only problem is the centerpieces (tall ones) and favors and cake details are all silver...what do u think of gold chairs and silver centerpieces/favors? Is two toned weird looking? Should I change everything to gold? Pay more for silver chairs?
