@hayleyelizabeth:  I had the same problem! I wanted something unique but something I new my dad would like! At first I decided on Moondance because its by Van Morrison my dads favourite artist. But I realised the lyrics were very inapporpriate for a father/daughter lol! I wanted to stay with Van Morrison so I started hunting and I eventually found These are the days! Its a lovely little song with a nice tune. Unfortunately it is a touch long and no one seemed to get the hint that I wanted them to join us on the dance floor so I felt a bit uncomfy! Otherwise it was really great!

Some of the lyrics:

These are the days of the endless summer
These are the days, the time is now
There is no past, there’s only future
There’s only here, there’s only now

I also did a search of unique father/daughter songs on the bee and theres lots of suggestions out there! Good luck!

I’m considering using the slow version of Forever Young by Bob Dylan

@hayleyelizabeth:  darn him. How does he feel about Tom Petty? I always think of my dad when I see Tom Petty because they kind of look similar hahaha but I don’t know if he’s considered classic rock. Wildflowers is a more upbeat song with some nice lyrics. Also Daughter by Loudon Wainwright is a nice song. It plays at the end of Knocked Up.

My Dad and I danced to You are My Special Angel by Bobby Vinton.  It was a song my Dad picked out and I was happy since it wasn’t overly done.  Good luck!

Guys what’s the deal with father-daughter songs– are you supposed to pick it yourself? Or get input from Dad? I am a little lost on this one!

@hayleyelizabeth:  I loooooove the John Mayer version of that song actually..it’s one of my favorites by him. I don’t think it’s too romantic. I think it would be easy to dance to. Has your dad heard the John Mayer version?

@prahajess:  I guess I’m not really sure about that. My dad lives out of state and we don’t talk much so he’s not really helping with any other aspect of the wedding…that’s why I’m picking a song for us. I wouldn’t pick something he wouldn’t like, though.

I’m not doing a father/daughter dance….but thinking about doing a mother/son dance. My son (he’ll be 7 when we get married) is walking me down the isle. I’m thinking about doing Pink Floyd’s Mother.  OR…making him use that song for us when he gets married 😉  LOL
