SimonSaysBride:

The bride in the picture is not me.

We chose this church to renew our vows because it is a beautiful space. It is also less than ten minutes away from our reception hall so it is perfect.

My parents always wanted me to marry in a church. Since they are referring to our vow renewal as our wedding because they were upset that we eloped, we thought that renewing our vows in a church would be the next best thing for my parents.

We were going to go with the cheapest chapel in Niagara Falls but it was way too tacky. It was cheap for a reason. For an extra $150, this chapel is worth it.

Can I see your church please?

Oooh I love this thread idea! We picked our church because of aesthetic appeal and because it was one of a few that would marry us on a Sunday and on a holiday weekend. But it cost so much more than if we had chosen a less-pretty church :/ I go back and forth about whether it’s worth it, but I am sure that after we get our pictures back we will be happy.

I’ve been married for a while, but this is a picture of the chapel where DH and I got married. It’s a deconsecrated Ursuline convent and chapel — very historical and very beautiful. We picked it because we had attended a wedding there and both fell in love with the space. Plus, I love the rough rock and the beautiful woods of the floor and pews. It didn’t need much decoration at all for the ceremony — a definite money saver. Our reception was outside on the grounds, so that was super convenient, too.

Not the greatest picture, but it was the best one I could find. At least it gives an idea of the overall look of the space. The big “empty” area off to the side was closed off for our wedding. We got married in the section of the chapel with the pews in it.

Here’s a link to a picture of our wedding. It’s kind of hard to tell all the details and colors because we had all black and white photography. (Hope the link works! LOL)

I’m so excited to walk down the aisle here! Honestly, we chose this church since it’s one of the few Catholic Churches in the city that we have made many memories in. Not currently our home church, since we live in another state, but they have been so welcoming in every way since I first contacted them. 🙂

I would have posted pics of weddings in the church, but obviously did not want to use someone else’s photos without permission.

Our church is the same one my parents and my grandparents married in, and also the church I grew up attending – so it has a TON of sentimental value! I have always known I’d want to get married there. It’s about 15 minutes from our reception venue, which works out, too. (We live in the middle of the country, and this is a small, country, Catholic church, so nothing is super-close!),

I love seeing all these churches. 🙂

This is the church where I grew up going to, so anything else wasn’t even an option.

Your chapel looks like a movie could have been filmed there!
