@SOONTOBEMRS_Z: Ohhh. Love your dress!!!! But I’m confused by what’s going on with the back there. Is it detatchable sleeves being used to simulate a keyhole back?
I also wanted a Stephanie James tea length number, but sadly no where here stocks them 🙁

@lil_possum: Haha, yeah the straps on my dress…that dress is supposed to have straps but they got lost so we just put random straps on. I am actually putting the straps on so they do form a keyhole back so you are correct about that. And I have been obessing over the Josephine since I got engaged, unfortunately the only store in MN that carried her gowns went out of business right before I got engaged, go figure.

@SOONTOBEMRS_Z: I love keyhole backs. Your dress looks like it was made for you, so probably good luck that you couldn’t get a Josephine

@SOONTOBEMRS_Z: Gorgeous dress! I was going to ask you about the back but you’ve already explained lol. Will you be wearing a veil or the headpiece in the photo?
The dress I wanted when I was younger was the gown from “Coming to America”
The very first wedding dress I ever tried on was the Alfred Angelo Sleeping Beauty. It would have bee perfect but I could only get it in white or ivory.
And finally, I’m planning on wearing a red wedding gown custom made by a Filipino bridal designer for the ceremony and a dress inspired by a black Romona Keveza gown for the reception.

The dress I thought I wanted pictured above from Labryinth, dreamed of as a child
Two photos of the dress of my dreams that I wore for my wedding day <3
Then the last dress I fell in love with but was above my budget 🙁

This is what I used to want. A corset top with a tulle skirt.
This is what I wanted when I first started getting into looking at dresses. But it was way out of the budget.
This is what I really wanted, but couldnt find near me to try on.
This is what I thought I would settle for, but I didnt like it on me as much as I thought I would.
And this is what I bought!

Galante is the dress I always wanted way before I got engaged, I actually bought her but had major dress regret as I didn’t feel it was wow enough and I wanted to alter it quite a bit.
Then I tried Adorae on and LOVED the way it made me feel, however the popularity of it and the snarky Sales Associate put me off.
And here is my actual baby. It’s a Madeline Gardner and I LOVE it. It doesn’t quite look right in the above pic as its 1-2 sizes too brigand there’s a bit of bunching round the stomach but hopefully when I get mine that will resolve 🙂

When I was little, this was my dream dress (but I wanted it in white – didn’t really like the Alfred Angelo Belle dress funnily enough)
Then when I first got engaged, this was my dream dress but I couldn’t find anywhere in Australia that stocked it, so I tried on a bunch of other shorter length dresses but I didn’t get a really bridal feeling in them, I sort of felt like I was playing dress-ups.
I tried on a bunch of Allure dresses and almost bought this one. A friend of mine actually bought a very similar dress so I decided not to get this one.
I then bought this dress. but had major dress regret and then proceeded to diet my butt off so I had a legit excuse to get a new dress (the beading on this one means its really hard to take in apparently).
So I have bought this dress and am waiting for it to arrive (ordered it from the US using a parcel forwarding company.
ETA: In between the two dresses I bought, I fell in love with the idea of a ballgown, and tried on about 10 or so, but none of the ones I tried on had as much tulle as I wanted (satin/silk overlay isn’t my thing), and the reality is I have an irritable stomach. I didn’t want to have someone help me if I had to poop at my wedding – Sorry, TMI I know!

This was one of the first dresses I saw online, when I started looking for dresses. And I really loved it, but never got the chance to try it on.
This was, what my mother first imagined for me (before first dress-shopping):
This was, what my fiance liked for me:
This was my dreamdress, but way too expensive:
This is what my mother totally fell in love with and I also liked (but I am in LOVE with tulle):
This is my dress (but I am going to wear it with the sash of my dream-dress):
Love your journeys ladies.
Greetings from Vienna/Austria

- Wedding: October 2013 - A Beautiful converted Barn
this is an awesome thread!! so interesting to see how our tastes have changed!!!
i wanted Ariels dress when i was little (ironically not a fan of Alfred Angelos Ariel now though!)
When i got engaged i wanted something heavily corseted and ‘dramatic’. i fell in love with a sonsie dress – nothing else i looked at came close to this dress!! i loved it in the red but would have worn it in ivory.
i travelled across the country to try the sonsie dress on and loved it – though when it came down to this and my ‘the one’ dress – there was no contest.
this is my ‘the one’! 🙂
