@Missy_Star:  My DH and I wrote our own vows and had them on paper. Nothing fancy and mine was tucked in my dress, everyone laughed when I pulled it out. Honestly I wouldn’t put too much concern into it. No one will even notice what the vows are on…they are more wrapped up in what you are saying.

We read our own vows.  They were on just regular ole printer paper, folded in half!  Guests were more fascinated by the content.

But if you’re worried about how it looks in professional pictures, maybe you could each find a pretty greeting card with vows written inside?

@Missy_Star:  You could use your hands to hold the piece of paper…

@Missy_Star:  I used linen resume paper, then, once printed out, I wadded it all up a million times so that it was “distressed” and old looking…Then I lightly ironed it to flatten it out again. I tore the edges some. Then, I scrolled it up and tied it with satin ribbon, and my daughter carried it for me until it was time to read them! afterwards we rolled both of our copies of vows together and laid them beside the cake and candles for photos.

DH and I were planning on doing our own vows on a regular lined piece of paper and I was going to frame it.  I thought it’d be cute even if it got crumpled and our handwriting was bad.

We ended up being really bad writers, everything I wrote sounded super cheesy and I couldn’t say it without laughing.  We ended up just going with the classic vows, but I still wish I did the framing idea!

@Missy_Star:  It’s really pretty in person too! My FI picked out a more manly one for himself, lol.

@Sweetjennygirl:  thank you! It is a pretty little thing, as I’ve kept our scroll bedside in my vase of dried flower petals, also from the wedding.

I used the same method for framing our vows and we now have them in matching frames at each bedside.

My daughters and myself each wore corsages instead of carrying flowers, so, it gave them something to hold during most of the ceremony, and for photos too. It was also meaningful that our children “handed over” our vows and our rings each, to the other’s parent.

We’re memorizing them!
