For those of you who had/are having steak served at your reception how big was it?
My reception venue has it’s own catering, and they offer a 14 ounce new york strip. I think that is way too much meat for one serving, especially since it comes with salad, rolls, and 2 sides. They age and cut their own steaks, so I’m going to ask them if we can have smaller cuts of steak and shave off a few dollars per plate. If they’re not willing to do that, I probably won’t be able to afford steak, which is a big bummer because I LOVE steak!

We’re offering 9 oz. grilled NY sirloin steaks as our beef entree.

That seems so much more reasonable to me. 14 ounces just seems so massive to me!

@mrstj2b: I agree. Ours is served with a salad, rolls, potato and asparagus and I think 9 oz is more than enough.

They hand cut the filet and it was 9oz as well, served with mash and asparagus. We had 5 courses I think anything else would have been super duper over kill

We are doing 10 oz, but we have lots of other food also.

It was a carving station or filet mignon (as cheap as other cuts via our caterer and his butcher) so it was as big as the people wanted.
