current house:

June 2008

5/1 ARM

6ish% (adjusting down this month, but we’re selling, so hopefully won’t be making many more payments…)

Wisconsin

new house:

late June 2013 (closing in August)

30 year fixed

4.75%

Wisconsin

it’s AMAZING (in a not-good way, if you’re me…) how much interest rates rose in the past few weeks.  Had we found our house 2-3 weeks earlier we would’ve had an interest rate of 3.375-3.5%…  c’est la vie.

@ferdie224:  We experienced the same thing! We were able to lock in a rate of 4.25% in mid-late June, but I couldn’t believe how fast they started going up!

@FutureMrsMK:

@ferdie224:  You guys are still lucky!  It’s not possible AFAIK to get a 30 year fixed term here and I would hate to see the rate if it was.  Every now and then a lender will offer a 15 year term, but it’s not typical and the rates I’ve seen for though are about 4% higher than the standard 5 yr terms!
