I was on Nuvaring for 3 years and recently took it out because hubby and I are ready to starting trying for a baby. When I took it out my “period” started Sept 1. It has been 34 days and I still have not gotten a period. I took a test this morning and it was negative. I also don’t feel like my period is on its way. No cramps, no sore breasts, nothing. I have been getting some headaches but I always got them when I was on the ring.
Before I was on nuvaring my cycles were always 28-29 days like clockwork. In the past when I have gone off the pill my cycle returned to normal right away.
For those that no longer use it, how long did it take to get your first period and your cycle to become normal again? If it doesn’t show up, how long should I wait before seeing the doctor?

For me personally, mine continued to be 28 days right after taking it out, but I’ve read of many other women that had very irregular cycles for months after going off Nuvaring. I really have no idea how long I’d wait before calling the doctor, really it’s whatever you feel comfortable with. I hope it goes back to normal soon!!

I went off it for a short time before, and my period was almost 3 weeks late with no symptoms.

I had a regular cycle after removing it. My friend however didn’t get her period for like 4-5 weeks. Everyone is different.

My cycle took a little longer to arrive after I took out the ring, but I feel like in my case it was stress related. The ring may have contributed to it though.

I’m on the Nuva ring and I took it out for a period of like, six months I think. The first month, my period was so late I took a pregnancy test, it was negative, and since then my cycles have been closer to 35 days. When I started using the nuva ring, I started using it 4 weeks in 1 out. Not going to lie, kind of a fan!
eta kind of a fan except it KILLS my sex drive. I had no idea until I went off it for six months and then back on it. It leaves me just desire less! Not so great 🙁

@BulldogBride: I went 35 days without a period (removed it in early April), got my first period in early May, got KU in May, and got my BFP in early June!

Thanks ladies! You have been a great help!
@lalalyanne: I found the same thing with my sex drive. I didn’t realize how much it had decreased until I took it out. I want it ALL the time now!

I went off it for a bit because I went out of town and forgot to bring them with me–my period came after about 5-6 weeks, and I took like 50 pregnancy tests between weeks 4 and 6, lol. I read online that it’s fairly common for your period to be a bit late after removing it.

I went off it and my period was over two weeks late. The next month it returned as regular, and has been fine ever since, excepting the horrible month I took Plan B. My body sure hates unnatural hormones!

After 5 years on BC, 2 of them on Nuvaring, I finally came off and didn’t have a period for 14 months. My doctor diagnosed me with PCOS and I finally had a real period with Metformin… but then got an IUD because we don’t want children yet!
