@prettyinpink11:  My FI ordered my engagement ring from James Allen, without any assistance from me.  It was a total surprise.  I do know that he researched diamond cut, color, clarity, etc. himself prior to ordering, and worked with the customer service team to ensure the diamond he got was perfect (according to his standards).  The customer service chat feature is amazing, and I used that when i ordered our wedding bands.

No He did not. I did everything…….but mine was an up grade.. The BEST advice I can give is have him go to Pricescope.com. They will help him get the best stone for his budget. That’s what I did and my stone is amazing.  They will give him the best advice because they know their stuff.  Best of luck to you.  By the way James Allen is one on the online sites they reccamend.

@prettyinpink11:  FI ordered from JA.  He got what he saw on the site.  He couldn’t have been happier when he received the ring and saw it. It was better than what he saw on the site. He said customer service was great and helped him out.

He was looking at stones for almost 2 years on JA though before he found “the one”…yeah, i was waiting a while.  Below is my ring:

Radiant, G, .80, IF, 0 florescence

@prettyinpink11:  Here’s my ring!  It’s a 1.3 carat cushion modified brilliant, D color, VS1 clarity.  I absolutely love it 🙂

I sent him to some websites- Truth About Diamonds and Pricescope. He certainly did enough research to pick a stone on his own- he even said that this wasn’t the biggest stone he could afford, but the bigger ones all had depth percentages that were too high for his taste.

He ordered from James Allen and was very happy with the process.

@prettyinpink11:  I am pretty sure my SO just ordered my ring and went with James Allen. I do know that they have a live chat feature and the option to select up to 3 stones to send to a gemologist for review. Also, do point him in the direction of Pricescope! He can start his own thread and everyone is so helpful over there.

Although we knew we would be going with an online store, we also went to some b&m stores that carried high quality diamonds to get an idea as to what to look for 🙂

@prettyinpink11:  After getting engaged, my husband told me the story about purchasing with James Allen. He wasn’t quite sure so, he purchased the diamond first and took it to a local jeweler to see if the specs matched. They did so, he mailed it back to have James Allen set it. He said they had EXCELLENT customer service. The only problem he had in the process was with FedEx. They left the box on our front porch even though it required a signature confirmation.

I got to experience this excellent customer service when I purchased my two (yes, two) wedding bands with James Allen. They will give you 10% off your wedding band purchase if your e-ring is purchased with them. Amazing customer service and great quality.

My husband also bought me diamond earrings for my wedding day present. He said that they once again gave him excellent customer service and he was even able to custom make my earrings.

The only thing I can’t speak of is the lifetime service they offer. They will check the stone and prongs and rhodium plate your white gold for free as a maintenance but, you need to mail back your ring to them in New York. Because FedEx left my ring on our front porch, I get the maintenance service done locally.

Oh yeah, one last thing. James Allen will buy back your diamond if you want to upgrade one day. 🙂 The fine print is you must purchase your new diamond for double the amount of the original diamond. Not a bad deal.

They have a wonderful selection – Make sure you show off your ring when you get it!! 🙂

@prettyinpink11:  Honestly, I think they also paid for the return shipping! They have really good customer service!
