@bebero:  VERY common… my hair is more than halfway down my back and getting it cut and partial highlights is over $300…

Yep, it’s happened to me. It makes sense. After all, if I color my own hair all over, I have to use two tubes of color instead of one.

@bebero:  Yes. I no longer have long hair but they always did this when I went it. It makes sense, it takes longer to do and it requires more dye.

Yup. They used more product, therefore you need to pay more. Pretty simple to me.

@bebero:  Yeah my hair is probably pretty close to the middle of my back and it cost $90 for an ombre that doesn’t even show 🙁

@bebero:  Yeah, this happens to me too. I don’t feel that my hair is ridiculously long either but whatever 😛

I do at-home hair color, and it’ takes 2-3 boxes of hair dye to do it all. So it would make sense that salons charge more to color hair that is longer.

I don’t have long hair anymore and don’t remember being charged extra when I did (down to about the crook of my elbow).  However, i do remember going to a salon once and being charged more for a cut.  I thought that was really odd, since 2 inches off the bottom of any length hair is kind of the same thing… I’d say mine was even easier since it was just a straight line across the bottom, not worrying about face framing layers or something.

My hair is 20′ plus long and I usually pay around $500 to get it chemically straightened and trimmed every 8-12 weeks..
