I'm not sure yet. I've tried to do contacts but I just don't know yet. I'm curious to see what other people say though.
I didn't wear my glasses on the wedding day even though I wear them daily.
However, I wear contacts whenever I go out and so I only feel "dressed up" when I am wearing contacts so it made sense for me!
You have to do what makes sense for you - you want to look like your self (but your best self ;-)) If this means keep the glasses than go for it.
In my personal opinion I am surprised when brides do wear their glasses only because I find that the glasses often slip down the users nose a little bit and the rim cuts the eyes in half. This takes away from the pictures and the brides beauty in my opinion.
But this is coming from an occasional contact wearer so if you never wear contacts your wedding day is not the day to wear them for the first time. If you identify yourself with your glasses than you should probably keep them.
If you do decide to go the contact route please try them out before hand.
Good Luck!
I've been wearing glasses since I was very young but I decided on getting contacts for rhe wedding. And I'm glad I did. I just felt more dressed up and elegant without them.
I rock my glasses every single day (I got them in 7th grade), but I will be wearing contacts for the wedding. I just don't want to deal with them and for some reason I feel like wearing contacts is more "formal". I cant really explain why I think that.
I did not wear my glasses on my wedding day - I got contacts! I wanted my face to be seen, not be obstructed by my glasses. My husband did not wear his glasses either and I was so glad.

Nope! My glasses are black plastic frames with a green inner lining. Don't think they'd look too good with a wedding dress, lol. I usually wear my glasses around the house or for running errands and then put my contacts in for everything else.
I have been wearing my glasses every day since 4th grade and heck yes I wore them! I'm not sure people would have recognized me without them - I wouldn't recognize me without them!
I dont think it is tacky! That is not the right word. You co worker probably meant something else. I just think it is more dressy if you dont wear them. I have glasses and contacts and perfer contacts. I always get smudges on my glasses and cant see. lol. I am clumbsy.
I dont care if my groom wears glasses or not. He looks handsome both ways.
Wow, what a coincidence - I just made an appointment today to get fitted for contacts! I wore them many years ago, but not sure if they'll work for me now. But I'm going to give it a shot. If not, I am prepared to buy a "lighter" pair of glasses with minimal wire frames (my current pair features a dark plastic frame which will NOT look good with my outfit :).
I wear contacts all the time. However, I sometimes have to put reading glasses over them to read something close up. What I did was to leave a pair of reading glasses on the table under the chuppah (Jewish wedding canopy). I was then able to walk down the aisle without glasses, but have the glasses available for when I went to sign the ketubah (the formal Jewish marriage contract).
NotFroofy has never been able to tolerate contacts, so she just wore her glasses the whole time.
I have never worn contacts in my life but I won't wear my glasses. They have black frames and I think they will draw too much attention away from my "look." And since I've been growing out my hair for the wedding, I've been liking my glasses less and less... Crazy! My hair was essentially a pixie cut for 10 years, and it'll be between my chin and shoulders when I'm done. Maybe I will switch over to contacts permanently. Now, if I can just get over this fear I have of touching my eye...
I have been trying (and failing) to wear contacts in preparation for the wedding day. Because Im such a failure at putting them in I might just not wear anything on the day (i really dont want to wear my glasses). I can see ok with one eye so it isnt like i will be tripping over things without contacts or glasses at least :P
I'll definitely be wearing my glasses for the wedding. They are just part of who I am and I wouldn't feel like myself without them.
When I was a senior in highschool I decided to not wear my glasses for my senior portraits. Once I got the pictures back I hated how I looked! I actually think I look better with glasses on than without them (but maybe thats because I've worn them everyday for the last 13 years of my life :p).
But, I do plan on buying a new pair before we get married. I'm not completely in love with the new frames I got over the summer and I don't want to look back at my photos and think "I knew I should have worn different frames."
I wore mine and wouldn't have had it any other day. My goal for the day was to be comfortable and I would NOT have been comfortable wearing contact lenses.
I'm wearing my glasses...I've never worn contacts. if you look on Offbeat Bride they have TONS of pictures of brides with glasses.

I also plan on buying new frames, because I have transitions right now (they were a huge dissapointment, I don't reccomend it) so I'll probably get prescription sunglasses at the same time.
I wore my glasses on my wedding day. I would have preferred to wear contacts, but I tried in the doctor's office and panicked when I had trouble getting them out. Needless to say, I left the office with my glasses and no contacts. I originally wanted to not wear my glasses for my wedding day, but my DH said he really would prefer if I wore them because it's part of my look and it makes me "me". I still wish I hadn't worn them though, because in some pictures part of the frame (they are plastic frames) covered a portion of my eye. In the picture that XxMyXxDecemberXx posted, it looks like that bride had that problem too. Part of the frame looks low and is covering a little bit of her eye.
I've also been a four eyes since 4. I tried contacts for the first time last year and will be wearing them for the wedding. I think it'll be easier for pictures and everything else. Plus, I have a lazy eye that gets noticeable when I'm tired/stressed and it doesn't turn as much when I wear contacts.
That said, I don't think glasses are tacky. And if your mental picture of yourself is with glasses (which knowing what it's like to wear glasses 24/7 for 24 years, I'm sure it is), you shouldn't hesitate to wear them. Your pictures will look like you!
I don't think I'm going to wear my glasses, but I'm kind of worried about wearing contacts, honestly. It doesn't seem like they're comfortable to wear for more than a few hours for me. I plan on hitting the optometrist before then and seeing if I can find a brand that'll work for me. :/
I have never tried contacts and they would terrify me (I'd worry all day about getting them out in the evening - don't need the stress!) so I will just stick to my glasses, especially as I don't feel I look like me with glasses off. Maybe I will take a few photos with them off for fun though!
@LuvMySailor: WOAH! Tell that nosey blabermouth to BACK. OFF.
If you prefer glasses, wear them! There is no reason for you to be uncomfortable. I could understand getting a new pair for the occasion, but not putting yourself throught the stress of learning to use contacts.
I wear both, contacts and glasses, and I chose to wear my contacts at the wedding.
But if you don't normally wear them, there can be issues (like when you cry they can fall out) so if you are going to get them, do it ASAP and take some extras with you to the wedding in case of a mishap!
Good luck.
Thank you everyone for your comments! I am just going to wear my glasses, thought I might get a new pair since these will be 3 years old come our wedding day. I've never worn contacts and I am actually afraid of them hahaahaha.
Ive had them for 16 years now!

I was told by a matronly co-worker to buy contacts because glasses in a wedding dress are tacky :-/
Are you or did you wear your glasses? I've been a four eyes since 4th grade and I love it
