summerrain123 :  Thank you – I was shocked that I fell in love with that setting as what I thought I loved via internet searches was a more modern setting – but in real life those rings just never looked as good.  My setting is much like my Grandmothers except I chose a higher center stone setting.

The center stone is a SI1 J in color with a medium blue florescence.  My FI did extensive research before choosing the stone.   We purchased all the stones from Blue Nile and had our jeweler copy the designer setting I fell in love with to accommodate the stone size.  It saved us thousands!!  I was overwhelmed when I saw the finished product.

BEEelegant :  it is just incredible. I wonder if the fluorescence does something cool with the J color bc it faces up much whiter than a J. I am obsessed w Blue Nile! Did you guys use the video option on there? Any diamond picking tips from you guys are greatly appreciated! My appraiser told me to go on there and she’s very picky w quality. Right now we are figuring out budget. Ideally it would be over 2 I’m open to different shapes. I think I might start w a solitaire but I do love sidestones. My grandmothers ring looks very similar to yours and I love it! People suggest resetting my grandmothers diamond but why the setting is classic.

summerrain123 :  I will ask my FI but yes  – I know the color and blue florescence did work hand in hand , but since he is the one who did all of the research, I have forgotten the total explanation.

At my age – this is the first real engagement ring I have ever had – so it could have been a piece of black coal and I would have been thrilled!
