So I have a sweet little .17 ct platinum bezel set stand-in e-ring, and FI agreed that it makes sense to get a stand-in wedding band as well. 🙂
I found a sweet .36 ct 18k bezel set eternity ring that would be perfect…but it’s a different metal. The melee is amazing, with specs that match or exceed my bezel.
Is it a problem that these two rings are different metals? would the two bands rub and scratch each other? If I get spacers, would that help? And which metal spacer(s) should I get, if needed?

Mixed metals look beautiful and I think that band would work well with your stand in e ring. love it

When you scratch gold you are wearing the metal away. When you scratch platinum the metal is displaced on the surface but does not wear away. It stand to reason that a platinum ring will eventually eat through a gold ring.

womanofsubstance: hrm. Good point. I’ll get a little cheapie gold spacer so the platinum ring doesn’t eat through the nice eternity ring. 🙂
