Hive, What 3 - 4 different things can I do for some light apps before a big lasagna dinner?? I just cant think. :/ ughh
I am making my famous lasagna tomorrow night, and since I get off work at 6 and it takes 3 hours to make, I want to have apps for some friends. Also, one of the girls doesnt eat red sauce, so she is just eating apps.

    Ideas?? :)

Ina Garten's cheese straws are really good and easy and they look impressive.

And then I'd just do a veggie tray or something like grilled zucchini (sliced lengthwise, thin, drizzled with olive oil and salt and pepper) and good quality olives.

Marinated mozzarella & tomatoes on skewers, a salad, an antipasti tray, cheese & crackers, would all go nicely before lasagna.

Hmm, with an Italian dinner, can you do a bruschettea or stuffed mushrooms? A caprese salad could be really nice too (buffalo mozzarella, basil, tomato, drizzled with a balsamic olive oil).

bruschetta is easy and great. good fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic and drizzeled oil.

endive leaves stuffed with something, maybe a chicken salad so your friend has a protein.

    stuffed mushrooms

a cheese platter accompanied with dried figs and other fruit, assorted nutes, sliced apples and crackers and bread, olives, marmalade, dried meats.

    prosciutto wrapped asparagus

shirmp cocktail or shrimp skewers with a graoe tomato, mozzerella chunk and basil leaf

You've got some great ideas already - love the stuffed mushrooms idea (you can make ahead and then just pop in the oven!), I've been loving kale chips (toss in EVOO and sprinkle with garlic powder, bake 325 for about 25-30 minutes....

If you want your oven free (since I'm now realizing the oven will likely be occupied with the main dish).....

-proscuitto/melon is always yummy and easy (you could make melon balls and then wrap a piece of proscuitto around it and stick a toothpick in it.

btw, would you post your lasagna recipe?! :)
