I think I’ve found my dress… but I’m being a chicken!
The only reason I’m hesitant to place the order (online) is that I’m worried I won’t like it once I get it and try it on. This place only offers refunds on dresses that have not been altered, which I totally understand.
Should I just order in a standard size (unaltered), see how it fits and if I like it enough, get it tweaked at a local tailor? I’m a pretty average size 8 (AU) and the dress is not too form fitting (see below) so hopefully any adjustments needed would be minor…
Or should I just go through and send them my measurements for a custom size… and risk that I won’t get a refund if I don’t like it?
- I know I could sell it or something if I didn’t like it but we have only budgeted for one dress, not multiple, so I couldn’t afford not being able to sell it off 😛
- I am unable to go for a fitting as the shop is interstate (5 hrs flight) and I don’t want to go to a local bridal shop and fall in love with something that is way out of the budget. Everything in Australia is so expensive 🙁
Have you been in a similar situation? What will/did you do?
Here’s a pic:

I think if you have someone who can alter the dress locally, order the standard size. Since you havwnt tried it on at all I would be so afraid to get it custom and not be able to send it back if you dont like it on.

@ksus07: Your dress is on the more simple side, so if it does not fit “perfecly” you can still get a good idea if you like it or not (where some more complex dresses change a lot once fitted). My vote is to pick the generic size. Gosh forbit you dont like it your stuck with the dress.

I had the exact same worries with my online dresses. I ended up asking for custom measurememts but allowed an extra cm on each measurement. That way it could easily be taken in by a local dressmaker

Order the standard size. That dress looks easy to alter
