Make sure to go to Mountian Pine Ridge Forest Reserve (here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_Pine_Ridge_Forest_Reserve) it’s pretty near San Ignacio, if I remember right

^ I took this picture.  In the picture of the giagantic waterfalls, off to the right of the frame of the picture are these giant pools that people can swim in.  incredible.

I went there for a Tropical Biology Course.

I say skip tubing in the cave and go explore the ATM cave instead. It’s really awesome to be able to explore a cave system and to climb around in them. This cave was once used ceremonially and has bones as well as shards of pottery. It’s really amazing that you can get so close to everything. I also recommend going to Xunantunich in the Cayo district. I took the bus for a quarter or so from San Ignacio and had the place nearly to myself. I brought a picnic lunch and ate on the grass and explored the ruins all afternoon. It’s also possible to take a day trip to Guatemala to go to Tikal, one of my favorite places ever. It’s an old Maya city in the middle of the rain forest and it is soo wild. You really feel like you’re in an Indiana Jones movie, with the amazingly preserved ruins, howler monkeys and parrots all around you. I recommend going snorkelling off of San pedro in the hol Chan reserve. Sting Ray Alley is pretty fun.

San Pedro on Ambergris? There is SUCH good snorkeling – go several days! Cave tubing on the main island is realllly fun too. Caye Caulker is another cool little island – a little more of a laid back hippie vibe than Ambergris. Last one, the Belize zoo is actually super cool too! Definitely the most unique zoo I’ve been to.

Have fun!!!
