I haven’t used them myself, but I’ve seen lots of other clients of Bella post, both friends/family, and on weddingbee.  They do a great job!

Just read something unflattering on the classified board… Not saying if it is true or not, but it is posted. Read it and judge the merit for yourself.

Bella has a very bad reputation. Do a search on here and other reviews of clients experiences. They like to pull a bait and switch which you think you are getting a certain photog and then a different one, usually a newbie, shows up on your day. They grossly underpay their photogs. $500 at the most considering what you are paying. They are going through bankruptcy and have recently purchased by the walmart corp. Do your homework before signing anything with them.

My problem with Bella Pictures is that they are PUSHY. I signed up for a contest of theirs and received a phone call EVERY SINGLE DAY since then. It was not even a person, but a recorded message– very annoying.

It depends on how personal an experience you want and how invested you are in good photography.  When you hire Bella you are playing the photography lottery.

I did a job for Bella once.  They are very aggressive in marketing towards photographers about how great it can be to let them do all of the legwork in finding you work…  Just show up on the day of the wedding, meet the couple, get paid $300-500 and never do anything again.  How invested in the couple do you think the photographer can get?  When you know nothing about the personalities of your subjects, it’s not easy to be able to deliver the type of work for them that they want.  Because you have no idea what they want.

The wedding I shot for them I felt completely disconnected from the entire experience.  For me personally my best work is when my clients are my friends, not complete strangers.  Photography is an intensely personal experience, which is why Bella and big companies like that will never be able to deliver a consistent product.
