You don’t have to completely take it out. They have these stretchy rubber ones you can use that bend with your belly!

I took mine out when do found out I was pregnant. I was kind of over it anyway, and I kind of felt that as a mommy, a belly ring was a little, well, not appropriate anymore. That’s just how I felt though, so no judgment to those who left their’s in or who plan to keep them.

I’m 20 weeks now, and had I not taken my ring out, about now would be the time that I’d probably take it out, as I can see my belly button slowly disappearing. 🙂

I’m nowhere near TTC, but I’ve had my belly button pierced forever and often wondered this…is it possible for your stomach to outgrow the piercing and for the barbell to pop off? I always imagined like a moment of impact when it would dislodge itself from my belly button, haha. Does the piercing hole stretch out?

I got a rubber one for my pregnancy and its totally in tact still (piercing and belly button). I did take it out (just poked it through every now and then) at about 32/34 weeks or so.

I took mine out once I started to show. It just felt weird to me to have it in.

ETA: For clarification I meant it physically felt funny to have it in, not weird to be pregnant and have my belly button pierced

I am 16 weeks and I just took mine out after reading this thread, lol! I am curious to know what happens to the hole though, even after pregnancy because I don’t plan to put it back in…

I took mine out before I started to show. I think my Dr. said I would have to eventually. My hole didnt stretch or close up and I put my bar back in maybe a week, if that after giving birth ( I was 19). I still have mine and rock it in a midriff ocasionally. I totally understand about how some people might feel it isn’t appropriate as a mom to have. There was a lot of things that changed in my lifestyle as I became a mom, but I love my belly button ring/bar and plan to keep it:) ( and I am 31 now)

I lasted until 36 weeks. I only took it out because it itched like something awful, and I had to have an emergency sonogram and the tech was not gentle before around that area so I was afraid she was going to yank it out.

I took mine out at 6 weeks but I know many keep em in and use the plastic temp thingy. Now it just looks like a little hole.

I took mine out a few years ago but the holes are still there (closed up I’m sure but the scars of where the holes were are visible).  Looking at my belly now, it would look completely gross if I still had a ring in.   I’m 31 weeks now and my belly/belly button have stretched enough now that the top and bottom hole are now flat on my tummy about an inch above where my actual belly button is now (it’s close to popping out) so if I had kept the ring in, it would be just a bit of skin pinched on my belly with a piercing through it.  I really can’t imagine anything looking more disgusting.    I’d advise taking the ring out sooner rather than later as I imagine it would be incredibly uncomfortable and get more difficult to take out the further along you get!
