Logically, I get that the boobs kind of need to be there for a point of reference... but it kind of creeps me out to cast my boobs. I think I'd rather do a maternity shoot.
My sister did a belly cast when she was pregnant with her first. She had it hanging above her bed for years. I never really got the appeal. She did a maternity shot for her second.
Umm...well I get that it's art and what not. But I don't think I'd feel very comfortable having it hang in my house somewhere for my family to see i.e. mom and dad when they come over.
Haha we did this with my FSIL! I have no clue where it is at the moment though...perhaps she threw it out? Lol I want to do this for some awkward reason though I've never seen them decorated...hmm I want to do a maternity shoot too when the time comes. I guess I'll have to see in the future!
I think I'd just do one of my belly, and then make it into a bowl... the boobs kind of freak me out too.
Oh, also I just googled it and saw this one. It is kind of cool:

See that last one actually makes sense! Looks like a maternity shoot pose. I would never want a lifesized cast of my enormous body right now, but if for some reason my hubby did, that last one isn't so creepy. I like that the tatas are covered!
Yeah, I think I'd pull the FCC rules on that...no nipples! There will be no Janet Jackson hanging out in my maternity shots!
uhhhhh this is weird to me. To each their own, but not for me
Maternity photos please? It's not something I want hanging in my house for all my visitors to see--including DH's friends, my parents, my friend's husbands...there's too much "look how big my boobs are" action going on. They're very artistic but not realisitc enough to own. I'd rather do beautiful maternity photos
"make it into a bowl" haha...that's awesome. Imagine having guests over and explaining the backround story of the salad bowl they are all eating from? You could do one with boobies and use it as a chip and dip bowl.
Yeah, I am on the fence about something like this. I kind of like the idea of the belly ONLY casting as my hubs is sort of an artist (pronounced arteest :)) so he could do an awesome painting on it like in the first pictures BUT there will definitely be no boobage. IMO that is too much.
It's a nice idea, and the boobage doesn't bother me, but I wouldn't be able to get past what to actually DO with it after it's been done. I really wouldn't want to hang it up and it's way too big to store it without smooshing it. Might be kind of fun just to do (maybe a baby shower thing or something, keeping a bikini top on or somethin, Idk), but then I'd probably toss it later. One of the girls on the show 16 and Pregnant was doing it. They only showed a brief moment of it. They didn't explain it at first so I was really confused why she was rubbing herself down was slimy stuff. I thought it was to prevent stretch marks at first :D
Ok, I'm going to admit that I love this. Boobs, belly, CELEBRATE it! The pregnant body is a beautiful thing and I hope to do this when it is my time to have babies. Just saying :)
I think its bizarre, personally. I get the maternity pictures to celebrate the preganant body, but the casting to me is so odd. Plus I would also rather put the money to family photos after the baby is born - a friend of mine had them with her newborn and they are stunning!
Haha Rosiebear I agree! Although I'm not quite sure what I would do with it but that doesn't matter!
They are intersting but I don't think i'd ever do it (never say never..I guess?!) But I LOVE love LOVE the idea of a maternity shoot :) :)
This is really funny because I work in a mum and baby shop and we have a little book of present ideas for mummies to be and new mums... and a belly cast is one of them! when we first saw it we had pretty much exactly the same reaction to you guys! I kind of get the idea that you want to capture your body shape at such an amzing stage but what do you do with afterwards??! I think I'd be freaked out if I put it in the bedroom and woke up in the middle of the night and there is no way it would be in a room where anyone who came to the house would see it!
Yeah... that cast is seriously freaking me out... I have never even heard of it. Plus it seems like one of those things that you think you want and spend the money on it then a few years later you say why did I do that... personal opinion.
How funny is this post! I received this for my baby shower and truly did not have any interest in doing it but I didnt want to make my best friend upset because she had did it with her pregnancy and thought it was such a cute idea. Let me tell you for someone who hates sitting still I truly hated the entire experience. LOL. It was so cold and you have to lie still for so long. Plus it was such a mess! We still havent decorated it yet and my daughter is almost one!
I did a home maternity photo shoot with FI because I was really shy! We just looked online found a bunch of poses that we liked and had them printed out in black and white at Walmart. It came out great! Just a tip for those soon to be moms that want those pics but cant afford the photographer session!
