Just wondering what, if any, benefits there are from buying your dress from a trunk show? What is the purpose of a trunk show anyway…while we are on the subject lol. Is it for the designer to show their newest collection? OR…?
I’ve been to two shops to try on dresses; one boutique and Davids Bridal. I was underwhelmed to say the least, nothing caught my eye so I kind of put off the whole dress shopping thing. So, now it’s getting crunch time and I need to do somwthing pretty quick here. Any input?? Thanks in advance!

@maiathebee2013: sometimes there are promotions when you purchase during a trunk show.
I bought my dress during a trunk show but there was no promo at that time. The only benefit was that the dress I purchased was not even in production yet so it was the designer’s newest collection.

I bought my dress from a trunk show. The benefits for me were that the full seasonal collection was there, so I got to see all the dresses in the line, and I got a 10% discount, which really helped! Also, the store knew a lot about the designer and what he stood for, which I also liked.

I bought my dress and veil from a Pnina Tornai trunk show, so I received a 12.5% discount on both. A trunk show means that the designer has their entire latest collection available to view and try on. I didn’t go to the store specifically for the trunk show, because I actually didn’t even think I liked the deisgner but once I saw her latest collection, I loved it and got a great deal.

FYI, it’s an Allure trunk show and I’ve sen some really pretty dresses on their website from their new line!

I bought my dress during a Kenneth Winston trunk show, and I got $100 off since it was from his fall collection.

I am soooo glad I got mine during a trunk show. Yes, you get anywhere from 10-20% off usually but more so that one of the designers was there and helped me style the dress to look the best on me (advising to take out a layer of the crinolin to make it a bit less poofy and having me tuck it between my legs etc. to know how it will sit). She also knew exaclty how to measure for the dress and recommended customizing the sizing on part of it because of how I am proportioned.
It also guaranteed I saw the dress I wanted, since while a shop may carry a designer they usually don’t have the whole line… trunk shows will have the whole line.

I bought my dress from a Watters trunk show. It was awesome to have them all there at the same time so you could really compare. They also had all the new dresses from the fall collection. It was kind of a cool vibe with the rep there, they really went all out to help you. I also got a discount

I bought my Vera Wang dress at a trunk show and got 10% my total order. In addition to the savings, the store had more VW gowns to try on than they usually do because it was promoting that particular designer.

I got a 10% discount for purchasing my dress over the phone when they had a trunk show (I had tried it on the week before and made up my mind at home). So I still got the discount even though I wasn’t in the store! That was a nice surprise, as I had no idea the trunk show was happening.
