Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

We had a s’mores bar and it was a huge hit. My only complaint was that the graham crackers that they used were soft, rather than crunchy as proper graham crackers should be.

Our dessert bar was spectacular. It was the one DIY project that I had a vision for. I made all the plates and all the cupcake wrappers. I had one friend bake 150 regular size cupcakes and another friend made 50 mini, 25 cake pops, 25 pink rice krispy dipped in white chocolate pops. My wedding cakes were bought at a local grocery store.  I had brownies, heart shaped cookies, Jordan almonds, jelly beans, and. Ferrero Rorcher chocolates . We got a box of Godiva chocolates for a wedding shower and I threw those on too. It was a work of art. This is a cute picture of one of my granddaughters peeking at the table.

So much fun……

Ours was awesome, we basically did a ton of mini cheesecakes 2 kinds, brownies, cake pops, mini apple and blueberry pies, mini cups with yougurt parfait, mini penutbutter cups, chocolate covered fruit,

I personally don’t like dessert right after dinner, and if dining with friends is any indicator, neither do they. Personally, if I were to do a dessert bar, I would do it before the meal as coffee and desserts in place of the whole appetizers and cocktail hour thing, or with a significant time break between dinner and dessert, to give people a chance to digest the delicious food they were just sated with.

I’m definitely going to have a dessert bar. My mom isn’t so certain, my FI thinks it’s an okay idea but that I can get a bit over-enthusiastic about dessert (I totally can) and my friends don’t know about it (but they’d love it). My plan is to have cupcakes instead of a wedding cake, with at least one flavor being gluten-free for those with celiac, and a huge variety of other delicious desserts – pecan pie (my favorite, and it stores well so we can make it ahead of time), cookies (some gluten-full and some gluten-free), maybe pumpkin pie (FI’s favorite), and a s’mores and hot chocolate bar.

I also want to have a small dessert with dinner – creme brulee maybe? – because, as stated above, I am a dessert fiend. And, if we can afford it, maybe a taco truck to come by later (you know, after everyone has partied off their earlier dinner) so that everyone can stay up late enough to watch the meteor shower (which is something I want to be part of the reception, so it needs to go LATE, till like 1am at least).

Then again, I’m probably going to spend the majority of our budget on food, because I love food and that’s what really makes a wedding, imo.

@vorpalette:  I am dying to have this at my wedding, did you use fire pits?  And was it super messy?

@FutureMrsJohnston:  The venue set it up for us–they had sterno cans in metal cube things, and it wasn’t messy.

@Mammy:  OMG! I want a dessert bar like that!!!!!! Especially because my wedding is tea party themed, a dessert bar would only make sense. My only question is how much of that was leftover? that’s my biggest concern. I do not want too much leftover food, especially if I’m doing any of it myself.
