    My fiance and I want to go see the Mayan ruins for our honeymoon. We're the adventuring type, so we want to see the ruins, go for a hike in the jungle, maybe go snorkeling, that sort of thing. We want all-inclusive because we don't want to take a bunch of money with us, and we want the convienance of pretty much everything being at the resort. We also have a small budget. (less than $3,000) So, what's the best resort you've stayed at?

    Look further south than Playa Del Carmen, maybe the Adventure Spa palace. Not sure what the prices are but a friend honeymooned there and had easy access to all the excursions.

    We stayed at the Grand Palladium Kantenah in the Riviera Maya (it's actually a chain of 4 resorts in one - the Kantenah, Colonial, White Sand and Riviera - and you have access to each of the resorts amenities) and we had a FABULOUS time.  Close to everything, not a lot of kids and wasn't too expensive.  Great food, gorgeous beach, beautiful rooms.  I would recommend the Kantenah since it had the nicest beach and was the quietest out of the 4 resorts.  Check it out!

    One of my friends just got back from her honeymoon in Mexico & she said her trip was $2800 (including flight tickets, all-inclusive, & she went on 2 excursions). She went through a travel agent.

    Here is the website..

    Hope this helps. I'm definitely going to look into it myself.

    Secrets Maroma Beach was incredible!  We went for 9 days staying in a Preferred Club for $3900 with everything...could have been much less had we stayed for a shorter period and in non-preferred.  I posted a recap on my blog:

    @FutureMrsW2012:

    Yay!  Date twin :)

    I am getting married in the Riviera Maya, at the Barcelo Maya Palace.  there are 4 different resorts on the same property and they all are gorgeous. They range from 4 to 5 star.

    I can't link stuff here at work but if you google it, you will find it easily.

    @ORella2012:  As far as budget goes, it depends on the time of year, how long you want to stay, & where you're flying from.  For adults-only resorts, we love the El Dorado, Excellence, Royal & Secrets properties.  You also want to make sure you have easy access to many of the sites that you want to see & decide what other aspects are important to you (e.g., smaller, more intimate property or larger resort).  Depending on your wish list, you should be able to find something.  (Sidenote:  do adults-only whenever possible for a honeymoon.  There is nothing more UN-romantic then a bunch of kids running amok on the beach while you're trying to relax [or around the pool], climbing on bar stools at a swim-up bar or going bonkers in a restaurant.  Ugh!)

    My friend just got back from a stay at Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun and raved about it. Also, I've done a lot of comparison shopping online, and I've found the best rates at www.b2cvacations.com. And finally, I agree that you should choose an adults-only resort - makes a huge difference when you're on a honeymoon! (Come to think of it, I'm not sure the Now Sapphire is adults-only. Darn.)

    My husband and I went to the Excellence Riviera Cancun and I really can't recommend it highly enough. We're extremely picky about quality and this place was just absolutely top-notch, had a great time.

    @Miss Burgundy:  we just booked that place!

    for 7 nights in august, were spending about $4500, + flying out of MN. majority of this is because of the type of room we choose.

    excellence resort in riviera maya cancun. it definitely could be in your budget depending on times, type of room & the dates!
