I personally love Nuvaring.  It has a lot less in side effects than others I have taken.

i think different pills effect different people differently, but i’ve been on ortho tri cyclen lo for almost 4 years and never had any side effects at all (besides a lighter period, but i think that counts more as a benefit than a side effect!). no effect on my sex drive at all.

Been on Ortho tri Cyclen for 17 years. Had zero effect on my sex drive. Especially back in my early 20’s, lol.

Every woman has a different physiology so what works best for someone may be less than ideal for others. I would ask your doctor for a recommendation and voice any concerns you have to him. He would guide you in the best direction. You can also change it down the road if you experience undesired side effects.

This is completely subjective and different for everyone.

I liked Ortho Tri Cyclin Lo, and had no side effects. I also got pregnant taking it perfectly – so i’m not a fan anymore ;-).

I’m on Seasonique now, and it’s going all right – no major side effects….

I’ve been using Ortho Tricyclen Lo for the past four years with little to no side effects.

I strayed and tried Trinessa once before and that one messed with my hormones so much that I was grumpy all the time and never felt like getting it on, but everyone reacts differently.

I have an IUD and absolutely love it, I never have to worry about taking any pills!

I second the IUD idea.

Also, whatever happened to condoms? Pretty effective, both as birth control & at not killing your sex drive.

@bebefly: I kinda hate condoms. If we go too long they start to hurt. Does this happen to anyone else?

@MissHoneyBun: I find anything that goes on too long starts to hurt. I’d just (re)apply some lube and keep going.

@MissHoneyBun

I hate them too, we never use them. They always dry me out so much it’s not enjoyable at all 🙁

I take Loestrin 24Fe. I gained some weight, but it’s been ok. I have a really hard time with cramps even on the pill. I really want an IUD, but I’ve never had kids and heard that most gynos won’t give you one without having kids.

there is no “best” bc pill. everyone reacts differently, so you’ll just have to use trial and error.

The best birth control is the one that is best for *you*! Everyone woman is different so what might be great for one may be horrible for another.

@ama0219: There are some healthcare providers who still hold this antiquated idea. Shop around and you’ll be able to find someone to insert the IUC (I know Planned Parenthood will for sure).

@MrsSaltWaterTaffy: I completely agree!  I’ve been on all types of BC – pills, patch, etc.  And Nuvaring has been the best for me.  It’s easy to take (once a month, not once a day), and I didn’t have any side effects with it.  If anything, I actually lost weight and had a higher sex drive when I was on it, compared to all the other ones out there.
