- Wedding: September 2013
Let me preface this by saying that I was a fairly clueless bride. But three of my closest friends totally helped make my wedding this weekend a fun and eventful day! I had a DIY wedding and was able to save several thousand dollars by doing it this way. Only, this meant that the setup and work fell on our shoulders. Luckily I have a rather large family and friend base full of people that were more than happy to help! My 3 bridesmaids though, I have to say went above and beyond more than once. lol Always taking everything in good humor. Of course there was the obligatory helping the bride use the restroom (that was my MOH’s job as she was returning the favor for when I was her Maid/Matron of Honor doing the same thing), helping with getting dressed (shoes, socks, changing into reception dress, etc), and all three at the last minute coming up with music for us to walk down the aisle to because my DJ mixed up the days and no one noticed he was missing until it was time to literally walk down the aisle!
Then there was one more little thing that I still laugh out loud about. We were all dressed and waiting to go with about 20 mins til lift-off when one of my bridesmaids says she needed to put on some deodorant as a last minute application real quick and wanted to know if anyone else wanted some. I said it couldn’t hurt (we were all a little nervewracked) and raised my arm. She became slightly aghast and asked when the last time I shaved my underarms was. I laughed and realized it had been more than a few days. Mind you, I’m in my dress and the straps prevented me from having much range of motion of my arms so I was just going to say oh well and just not worry about it. She wasn’t having any of that, grabbed her razor she brought (thank god!) and commenced to shaving under my arms for me as I couldn’t reach on my own. Only then did she share her deodorant with me! lol
I feel so grateful to have such wonderful friends and bridesmaids!
