It’s definitely possible! We’re looking at all-inclusive packages for Curacao in August ’13. Maybe check out Sandals in Jamaica or some of the Couples resorts that do all-inclusive. We have a Costco membership so we’ll probably book thru Costco Travel, but there are tons of Caribbean Travel websites that have great deals. Good luck!

We went to the majestic in punta Cana (dominican republic) for a family vacation and it was amazing! I am not sure of the price but I’m pretty confident it was less than that!

book your airfare and hotel all inclusive deal together…lots of deals going on! since we used miles for airfare, we booked Couples Swept Away in Negril for 4 nights at $1400 total. Its including food, drinks, room service, some excurisions, tips and round trip shuttle service to/from airport…I read so many great things about Couples!

I think butler service is more popular in Punta Cana, St Lucia, Curacao…I dont seee the point of butler service either, i dont think i’d want a random person in my room waiting for me to instruct him on what to do…weird for us too!!! lolz

I have no idea of the pricing currently, since my honeymoon was three years ago.  However, we selected one of the most elegant, beautiful, quiet, boutique hotels in the Caribbean: Royal Plantation in Jamaica, and it was incredible! When we were there, it was not yet under the Sandals’ brand, so I cannot presume to know if the level or quality of service, etc. have changed now that it IS under the Sandals’ brand. (From my understanding, previously, it was managed by the daughter of the family that owns Sandals, but it was always marketed and branded separately because of the level of service it offered.)

Royal Plantation is a very small resort (only 74 suites) where the suites and views are absolutely gorgeous, and the level of service is amazing. The food was spectacular, too. Back then, you could choose what they called the Royal Plan, which basically provided an all-inclusive experience at the resort, plus transportation to and from the resort by private car and driver.  We spent between $7K and 8K for our seven-night stay, so you may be able to stay close to your budget with a five-day stay.

Are you open to cruises at all?!

FI and i have looked at many resorts and then we made the mistake of reading reviews on tripadvisor. Not sure if thats good or bad – but SO many complain about things and mosquitos. I live in MN the one thing id like to not do on my honeymoon is cake myself with bugs spray or worry about forgetting it when i step out of the room. I’m so hesitant to put all that money to a resort then show up and have it be a different room or different view and overall not the experience we hoped for! So were back to looking at cruises which we know we will enjoy. This thread is helping me now as well (not wanting to go over 5k total), haha!

But even tho in Mexico – the one resort i keep looking back at is the Live Aqua!

@LWA:  It’s definitely possible. We stayed 5 nights/ 6 days at Couples Sans Souci in Jamaica for $2900 including airfare (from Philadelphia).

We had a great experience and there were a ton of activities included in the price. We just got back from our late honeymoon a week ago, and we’re trying to plan a trip backl later this year.

I wouldn’t do a cruise for my honeymoon either! I would recommend Royal Suites Turquesa in Punta Cana, DR. I looked for months and this resort is all inclusive and a steal for $4,800 and that’s for 10 days! check it out!
