I would suggest you try looking on ebay first. I bought my case for $40 at one of the carts in the mall and found the EXACT on one ebay for $24 :( Every case they sell at the malls can be found for much cheaper on ebay. They only sell one style at the at&t store and I wasn't too happy with it :/
Also, don't buy the mirror screen protector! I only bought it because they were sold out of the regular screen protector and I didn't want to go without one. It is fine until I'm trying to use my phone in the sun and the glare makes the screen into a mirror and I can't see anyting.
Yay! I got my iphone the day before our wedding :) I got a rubber type case though its not really rubber, but its smooth and it i drop the phone it bounces just a bit. I agree with babyboo and would look on ebay, or go to a swap meet if you have one near you where they are cheap.
I did get a screen protector put on my phone, it has lasted 6+ months and was only $30. I think its a great investment and i dont have to worry about scratching my screen.
I got a cute kate spade rubber-ish case at the Apple store. I was worried it wouldn't fit well (my friend has one that seems way too big for her phone), but so far it's great. I can lay the phone down with the screen facing the table and the rubber is thick enough that the screen doesn't touch anything. I first had a snap-on hard plastic type case (clear) that also worked ok, but I dropped the phone a few times and the case snapped right off, so that didn't seem to be protecting it well. The kate spade rubber one was $30, the plastic clear one was $7 at Marshalls. All in all, I'd say both were good, just depends if you like hard or soft cases!
The screen protector is good - but I got really grossed out by mine and felt that I had trouble with some of the sliding moves (grossed out as it seems to trap dirt on the edges. I usually have my phone in a special phone-only pocket in my purse so it is ok, but if you are going to just toss it in with other stuff definitely get a screen protector!

It depends if you're going for cute or durable. I'm a durable fan as I have a tendency to drop/break things. The Otterbox brand cases are the most durable ever. We use them at my work for the people who do terribly hazardous duty jobs.
fanatic -- how funny, i was just looking those otterbox cases up!! right now, i am narrowing down from the otterbox, to the speck candyshell and the iSkin solo.
Apparently it lists them from Scosche, Gumdrop and Proporta.
Get an Otter Box!! Seriously, these things seem indestructible!!! When we went and bought our iPhone cases, the guy had an Otter Box and threw it literally across the room and the phone was fine. Another instance- my friends uncle has one and he accidently dropped it from the second story roof and NOTHING happened to it!!! It's awesome :]

hi bees - i am FINALLY getting my iPhone (my upgrade date with at&t was 12/26) so next week i'll be picking it up!!
in the meantime...i am doing research on cases. share what you have/if you like it/any suggestions?
