Truly, I recommend just buying bulk sandwich bags at Sam's Club/BJs/Costco and use those. You will spend SOOOOO much less, you can carry a couple empty bags with you out in public, you can have a box in every room of the house even. I started doing this with DS a year ago and it's been a dream! No smell and so cheap.
The best diaper pail is no diaper pail. Get those suckers out of the house is our theory. I mean who really wants to sleep in a room with a bucket of poo-y diapers? Gross.
we got the diaper champ and put regular bags in it... it worked but still got smelly, we just gather them up in a bag on our patio and throw them in the trash when we take it out for the night... we didn't want to pony up and buy a diaper genie, wasnt worth the cost for us
Regular trash can from Target with walmart bags we tossed each day. We use cloth now, still the same trashcan just no liner since I was often.
We also have the diaper champ, as PP does smell but uses regular garbage bags. We have a newborn, so lots of diaper changes and have changed out the diaper pail bags regularly
thanks ladies!
I decided to try a regular trash can with a lid and use the doggy poop bags. The trash can is small so I will have to change it every day whether I want it or not.
We'll see how this goes! :)
We use the diaper genie and though it dsnt use regular trash bags we like it and it doesn't smell
I agree that the best diaper pail is not diaper pain at all. I really like the sandwich bag idea and just take those suckers out to the trash.
I LOOOOOOOVE my diaper genie II elite. (This is the normal one they sell in most stores now.) I tell everyone I know to buy it. With the foot pedal, you never have to touch the diaper pail to open it (it can get gross otherwise). It is sleek looking. And of course, the biggest benefit, you NEVER smell dirty diapers - even when you change bags. It is truly the best on the market by far. I actually have two in my house, one for each floor. One of the best baby products I have!
Honestly, I'm really not a fan of the diaper pails. Most that are more affordable reviews say they still leak. The one that most recommend -the diaper genie- is just too expensive imo. Of all the things to spend money on for the baby I'll rather put that money elsewhere.
My plan is just to use a small bathroom trash can with a lid, like we have now, for the baby's diapers in the nursery. We don't have any issue with taking the garbage out frequently. But we also own our own home so it's not like I have to walk 10 flights of stairs to get to the garbage can.
No one on my side of the family ever used diaper pails so I really see no need for it.

This is one of the last items missing for us to be ready. I want one that I can use regular garbage bags in it, not to be stuck buying expensive refills that I can't buy at the grocery store.
I'm looking for reviews, good or bad. Please share your experience!thanks!
