sorry, I’m not sure I understand. Switching FROM treadmill/eliptical?

If so, I LOVE swimming. When I lived in apartment with a pool, I don’t think I actually lost weight, but I did always just *feel* like my stomach was flatter after swimming laps for 1/2 hour!

I LOVE to swim. I always crosstrain it with other things during the week, but yes, I think if you’re really pushing yourself in the water like you push yourself in the gym, you’ll get great results. It’s a whole body workout. I prefer to switch between front crawl and breaststroke laps, with some extended underwater swimming (just cause I’m working on my lung capacity). It’s also really great if you’re ever sore from other workouts – I’ve been doing bootcamp for a couple weeks now and every time I think I’m gonna die of soreness I swim 30-45 minutes and it really loosens me up.

I was in the best shape of my life when I used to swim three times a week. I don’t get nearly the same results at the gym. I’m planning to get my lazy butt back into the water again one of these days, lol.

I’m a swimmer.  I love it.  When I had access to a pool in college that was my workout.  It kept me toned, I lost weight, I felt great, it was easy on my bad knees!  If I didn’t have to get a gym membership to go to a pool I would do that every day instead of anything else.  I LOVE SWIMMING!  And it is SO good for you, especially if you have any joint injuries, back injuries or arthritis.

I just wish I had a pool right now! 🙁
