I personally love MAC and Urban Decay. You should also pick up an eye primer for her to use before applying the shadow. (Urban Decay eye primer is amazing). It will make your shadow last so much longer. Good luck!

I just had my trial makeup yesterday and she used a mixture of both naked palettes by urban decay. I loved it and I think there are plenty of colors in either of them alone to do a smokey eye. It’s $50 though so a little over the $40 you wanted to spend

Urban Decay, along with UD Primer Potion, will stay all day even through sweating. I love it! UD Naked palette that PPs mentioned is awesome.

I totally used the Urban Decay Naked palette. I did Smog, Virgin, and the gold one (forget the name) on my lids. Their primer is amazing. I had my wedding last Aug and I still use the palette every day. There is also a gunmetal grey, and some darker purples for a smokey eye look. Worth every cent.

Another vote for the Urban Decay Naked palatte!!  There’s a ton of color options, and while it may be a little over your budget, the palatte came with a small primer and a brush, so it was a great investment!

Yet more love for the Urban Decay Naked palette. Either one is fine but the original comes with the primer. Primer is a must! Too-Faced and Lorac also have good primer options. Sephora will give you small samples if you ask.

Primer does make your shadow a little difficult to blend, so be sure to practice. A little powder over the primer helps that. MAC, Nars, UD and Lorac are consistently reliable. I’ve also heard good things about Illamasqua, although I don’t have personal experience. Not a fan of Smashbox as I don’t think their shadows are pigmented enough. Any of these brand should be well-pigmented which means they’ll last a long time and be worth your money.

Urban Decay is good but it depends on what you’re looking for.  My personal fav for a smokey eye look is the Too Faced Natural at Night palette with Studio gear black eyeliner.  Make sure that you have a good eyeshadow primer (UD makes a good one.)  The Too Faced palette is more natural colors (browns, golds, greens, etc.) which I am drawn to.  If you go to a store like Ulta, Macy’s, or Sephora a lot of times they are more than willing to apply different palettes for free to let you try it out.

I don’t like MAC for wedding makeup TBH.

I’m probably going to use Target’s Pixi Nude Shades Wardrobe or NP Set Chicago or Sweater Set.

Has anyone used Stila’s In the Light set?  I’ve heard good things and I’m tempted to get it…
