I am quickly approaching 25, although it seems like I’ve hit a mid life crisis. I’ve always taken good care of my skin despite a few really awful sunburns I got that required medical attention (I’m a natural redhead). I’ve tried too many moisturizers; they all promote the same thing, but I want to make sure I’m taking good care of my skin.
So, what’s your favorite moisturizer, where do you purchase it and how much is it? (Cost is not a problem)

Cerave, simple and affordable and readily available at most stores that carry beauty items. It isn’t oily, doesn’t clog pores and maintains released moisture throughout the day. It was recommended by my dermatologist.

@Janaic88: I love Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizing lotion. I forget how much it is, but you can get it everywhere. It isn’t expensive. I’m pale w. sensitive skin. I use this stuff at night or if I’m not going anywhere.
For the day I use Clinique City Block SPF 25 and then put Almay Wake Up makeup over it. I find the combination works on my normal to dry skin. I used to use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer but I found it wasn’t that great, and the Almay stuff works just as well for less $$.

I like Patricia wexler products! Her line is now at bath and body works.

@ilikeballet: Thanks. I’ll look into it. 🙂
@Treejewel19: Thank you. I like that its not oily. I think I may have normal to dry skin (maybe more on the drier side).
@canarydiamond: I’ve used Clinique products in the past and I think I may have had an allergic reaction. My skin got really red and I got little bumps all over. :/ A little hesitant to try Clinique products again. :/

I just use Oil of Olay with SPF 15 – it works really well on all skin types and I have tried everything from Chanel to other drugstore brands.
And I know you didn’t ask for this piece of advice, but I JUST read an article today about redheads having a very high risk of melanoma: sun exposure or not. You mentioned several bad sunburns, which puts your risk factor even higher.
I am not trying to freak you out, just please keep a careful eye on any moles/freckles. I am blonde with blue eyes of Scandanavian/English descent and I burned and tanned until I was in my late teens. Now I am almost 46 and I’ve had 3 basal cell carcinomas and my derm says in can expect them to keep on coming. I did all that damage early in my life and now I’m paying the price.
Go to your derm twice a year for mole checks and moisturize with SPF only! They are really good about slicing off anything suspicious and they can catch cancers really early, but you GOTTA go:) Okay, lecture/thread jack over.

Do you ladies use a night cream and then a different cream in the morning? I use the same moisturizer night and day but use eye cream at night.

@PutABirdOnIt: I appreciate it. I actually haven’t been in like 6 years or so since I got my last really bad sunburn where my eyes were swollen shut and my face was completely swollen. But my mom always tells me the same thing. And I worry about it constanstly, especially since the last sunburn, so I really do my best to make sure I wear SPF on my face.
Seriously, thank you for bringing this up, I probably should schedule a derm appointment, it’s been too long. I’m sorry you’ve had to go through that and I am thankful for your advice. 🙂

Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing moisture gel has worked incredibly well for me for the past year and a half! I have oily skin, but Paula’s Choice makes many moisturizers for different skin types. Definitely worth a look!

I like Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief. It’s light and oil free but does a great job. It is $37.

I really like Garnier’s gel moisturizers – the ones that comes in the little glass jars. I’ve tried the green one and the pink one (I think one is regular and one is for sensitive or extra dry skin) and like them both.

Skin Drink by LUSH. It’s $24.95 for a small pot, but I use it once a day (twice if I shower twice) and I’ve been using the same pot since July 7th. It still has at least another month left. It’s all natural, free if fillers and harsh chemicals. Applying it feels like satin and it’s so soothing on my eyes and lips. The best part- you can sample it at your local LUSH store and see if it’s right for you. Their most expensive face moisturizer is called Gorgeous and is $89.95 for the same size pot. I’ve sampled it and I actually preferred Skin Drink.
Second runner up is Aveeno Daily Moisturizer. I use it on the rest of my body and used it on my face for years before I discovered LUSH. It is not a designated facial moisturizer. It’s $3-5 for a big squirt bottle.
I am a strawberry blonde with extremely fair, sensitive skin.
