@JoJo Bananas: even Aveeno makes me break out. It's like the 'sunscreen' part of it makes me allergic, which is why I have to have those specific ingredients :(
I would take a trip to Whole Foods and take a look at their sunscreen section. They have lots of natural facial sunscreens that may work.
@YSQueen: oh good call! I hope their return policy is flexible :) just in case!
i use clinique super city sun block and just looked at the bottle--it has those ingredients :) it'd be more expensive than a drugstore brand, but i use it all the time on my sensitive skin and it's great. last year i used it religiously before my wedding, and when i got a facial a few weeks before my wedding the technician commented on how little sun damage i had on my face, so it works well too. i use the 40spf version but they have one that's lower too i think
I personally love neutrogena dry touch. It doesn't make me feel all greasy or break out and i have pretty sensative skin. Also its the only thing I have found that keeps my extremely pale self from burning. It lasts..
@Corilee13: I also like the Neutrogena Dry Touch, but I think it still has the ingredients the OP is sensitive to.
I was browsing sunscreens yesterday and I believe Coppertone makes one with the Zinc Oxide and/or Titanium Dioxide, I think it even says it's for sensitive skin. Not sure about the grease-factor though. Whole Foods is also a great option...will you update and let us know if they have a good one?
@Jaynee: I will definitely let you know what I come up with! I just ordered a sunblock from Sephora.com and it's supposedly really good for people with my issues. HEre's a link:
http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P261320&categoryId=S15211&shouldPaginate=true
I should be getting it in the next few days, so I'll let you know what I think when I use it!! :)
I have extremely sensitive skin! most of the daily face lotions have chemicals that make my skin hurt, especially around the eyes. the only thing that works for me is any sunscreen that has zinc oxide in it:
everyday lotion, in the summer (spf 30): Olay Complete Defense Daily UV Moisturizer SPF 30, Sensitive Skin
everyday lotion in the winter (spf 15): Olay Complete All Day UV Moisturizer - spf 15, Sensitive Skin (NOTE: make sure it's the "classic gentle formula" with zinc as one of the sunscreens, they have a different formula w/o zinc and it burns!)
stronger sunscreen (like, for the beach): Aveeno Baby Natural Protection Mineral Block
NOTE: zinc has an added benefit: not only is it a terrific sunscreen, it's known to soothe skin too.
@janie-janie: thanks for the suggestion on the daily moisturizer...I'm about to run out of my really expensive DDF and I don't feel like spending the $40 to replace it. Olay sounds much better on my wallet :)
@huckleberry783: I'll def. look this one up if the one I bought doesn't work! Thank you!
@napabridekelsey: do check the ingredients first: there are other sunscreen ingredients besides zinc in the olay ones -- but none of them have Avobenzone, which seems to be the worst culprit for me.
the aveeno baby natural protection sunblocks have only titanium and zinc, no other sunscreen ingredients.
you mentioned other aveeno sunscreens breaking you out-- they hurt my skin too, so it's just the aveeno baby natural stuff I'm talking about.
I find the best option for me is proactiv's moisturizer, but it's only SPF 15, not a very useful sunblock for spending a day outside here, let alone mexico! For my body, I used to use a coppertone oil free one, but the packaging has changed and I'm not sure if it's the same formula. I reacted to it anyway, just not as bad as some.
I'll have to give some of those other ones a try the next time I want to ditch the hat for a day outside!
Badger sunscreens or Devita sunscreens are both fantastic and use zinc oxide. Plus, they're both physical sunblocks instead of chemical, which I've heard is much better for your skin.
Update: Just got the Lavanilla Healthy Sunscreen in SPF 40, and it is soooo nice. It's really light on my skin, and I can barely feel it on my face. No itchy bumps or greasy-ness under my makeup!
Sensitive skin girls - check it out! I love it so far :)
hmmm i have the same issue and have been using burts bees radiance SPF 15 and it's really great - natural sunscreens are def the way to go - but that lavanilla one looks really nice! I like that it has SPF 40 and hyaluronic acid... may have to try it!

So I have REALLY sensitive skin, and when I use 'regular' face sunscreen, my face breaks out in these little tiny bumps that itch like crazy.
I'm about to go on a cruise to Mexico and I don't want my face to burn 3 weeks before my wedding.
My dermatologist told me to get a sunscreen that has Zinc Oxide and Titanium dioxide as active ingredients, to prevent sensitivity.
I am having a super hard time finding a sunscreen that has those active ingredients that would be good for my face and under makeup.
Any suggestions for you sensitive skin girls???
Thanks!
