We got married at a vineyard and had personalized wine glasses made with our names and wedding date on them. Now when we go to friend's houses everyone pulls out our wine glasses to use for the night. I think people liked them.
Give me something to eat that is unique to you and your hubby!
We are doing tiny little jars of strawberry jam with hand made tags that say "thank you for celebrating with us"
I think anything edible is always good. Also charity donations and photobooth pictures a good popular option. I would just stay away from nick nacks and chatchkies, (especially personalized ones). No matter how much I like the couple, I don't really need or want anything with their name on it cluttering my house.
I agree - something edible! We are doing caramel apples and candy apples since our wedding is in September. We originally wanted them dressed as brides and grooms but that was WAY too expensive so we compromised and got regular ones.
At the wedding I went to last weekend they gave everyone Kinder Surprise eggs (the kind with the toys inside them) and it was so adorable and fun.
Honestly? When I didn't get anything. I don't need a trinket and I usually eat too much at weddings as it is! ...I'm not sure what we're going to do re:favors yet...
Best Wishes!
Definitely something edible! My favorites have been little jars of honey (the groom's dad raised bees as a hobby and produced his own honey) and cute packages of Ghirardelli chocolate squares (so tasty! who doesn't like chocolate?). We are planning on doing chocolate-covered espresso beans.
We did a scratch ticket inside a little glassine envelope with a penny. On the front was a label that said "Wishing you Riches from the New Mr. & Mrs." and Lucky in Love. We got a ton of compliments! I don't have a pro pic yet, but here's an idea. Made the lable free on Vista Print and bought the envelopes from Ebay. http://www.blissweddingsmarket.com/brideideas/glassine_lottery.htm
We are doing homemade cookies which will be packaged in takeout boxes. I think edible is the best route. Otherwise people end up with favors that really, what are you supposed to do with after the wedding?
Definitely prefer edible favors - they are useful. I never know what to do with other favors - so guilt inducing when we finally toss (or recycle) them.
Food and at a Christmas wedding, there were ornaments as escort cards / favors.
Unique and yummy food! Homemade perhaps?
Other stuff I definitely end up tossing. Food seems the least waseful, aside from making a donation.

I still need some ideas on wedding favors. What have some of your favorites been?
