Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Power Foundation, Kat Von D Lock It, and Estee Lauder Double Wear.

The Estee and the KVD need to be applied in small sections and buffed because they lock into place.

Hi there! I’m definitely not an expert, just wanted to chime in because I also tried MUF after reading rave reviews on the Bee and did NOT like it. I quickly went back to my perennial favorite – Studio fix powder plus foundation by Mac. Coverage is buildable, and the texture is just lovely. I have combination skin, and I love that it gives me a matte look where I need it without drying me out elsewhere. Just my two cents 🙂

Barbiestylez: I wore Estée Lauder for the big day and it’s converted me to the brand. If was light, I hate those where you can feel them sinking into your pores.

Barbiestylez:  Kat Von D is too matte for me. I love Laura Mercier (fave!!!), hourglass, Studio Sculpt, and I recently bought Becca and I like that also.

I personally love kat von d lock it, but I see it’s flakey for you (Im guessing you’re maybe dry and not oily? or maybe you need to moisturize and wear different primer?).

I also like nars sheer matte a lot.  If you’re dry, you might like nars sheer glow.  It’s medium coverage but buildable altho I don’t find it anywhere near as full coverage as kat von d.  Nars sheer matte definitely has less of the chalkiness that lock it can have.

The other thing though- I wonder if you’re applying the wrong amount of lock it or in a way that’s not as nice-looking?  If I apply small amts of lock it w/a beauty blender, I look fantabulous.  If I use large amounts (usually with a brush), I can definitely look chalky, but the beauty blender is a lifesaver and has me looking airbrushed.  It is very full coverage tho, so you’d need to countour/highlight and use blush to re-add the feature and definition to your face with it.  Lock it and nars have both photographed really well for me so far.

Barbiestylez: Anytime I got my MU done before being photographed, I went to MAC. Flawless photo coverage. Though, for day to day I wear Revlon photofinish or something. It gives a beautiful look, and I started using it because of this > http://barefootblonde.com/beauty/ blog. She takes photos daily and looks flawless every time. No need to spend money on deisgner make up, spend a couple of bucks to try this one! I get compliments quite often on the beauty of my skin when I wear it. Best of luck!

Ive used lancome for more than a decade. Specifically lancome teinte idole ultra 24hr.  It provides full coverage that really does last all day But is oil free and not cakey at all.  It also has spf which is great too.  I hated the mac foundation my mua used in my trial so i just used my normal one and it was great.

following because I hate muf hd too lol, I get so upset when everyone raves about it because it’s probably one of the worse looking foundations on my skin 🙁

Barbiestylez:  I use the Kevyn Aucoin but in a lighter color for my under eye highlight. I do love the coverage!!

Smashbox moisturizing 15 hour is my go-to for a photo-ready look. I tried so many foundations looking for “the one”, and Smashbox worked best for me. (sensitive, normal-dry, redness and blemishes to cover)
