@Mrsderoo42614:  Check out Kat Von D tattoo foundation. It’s pretty thick, but covers up just about anything. Just make sure you lotion your face before putting any make up on, otherwise it will flake.

@Mrsderoo42614:  I start with Smashbox photo ready primer and 15 hour longwear foundation, and then I touch up darker spots with Loreal true match crayon concealer. It all blends together very well and provides full coverage. I deal with acne and scarring and you’d never know when I have makeup on.

@Mrsderoo42614:  I start with Smashbox photo ready primer as well and then I use MAC select cover up. It is a great concealer that I have used to combat redness from acne scars. I had them use that and then I had them airbrush MAC foundation over that. Seal the makeup with blotting powder and you should get a good result.

Best one I’ve ever tried came as a recommendation from @baroness_meg, who used it and looked positively glowing on her wedding day.

Lancôme Teint Visionnaire

I’m so impressed with the coverage for dark areas, redness, and blemishes – and it lasts all day! I’ve never had a foundation or even concealer that lasts like this.

It’s got a liquid pump and a denser spot coverage paste in the lid.

Here’s a YouTube video that shows how even it makes skin look, and how good it is for coverage (the reviewer has dark eye circles and a red forehead pimple to start off with): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvjEvt8A3SQ

Haha I use Smashbox photo ready primer too! With MAC foundation. I’ve tried at least 30 different kinds of foundation and MAC is the only one that works for me – great coverage and just makes the skin look nice. The best concealer I ever found was Urban Decay (covers everything up but doesn’t clog pores).

I feel your pain. My actual acne isn’t bad anymore, but I still need a cm of makeup to cover up all the red/brown marks 🙁

@Mrsderoo42614:  this isn’t a makeup suggestion, but have you tried using a medication to fade the brown marks? i struggled with acne on my face and back for a long time. my face has cleared up for the most part, but i still have a little bit of problem with my back. anyway, for the last few years i’ve been using panoxyl (it’s a prescription benzoyl peroxide cream). it help prevent breakouts and it also fades the brown spots. if it’s not possible to see a doctor for a prescription, there’s a panoxyl cleanser that is available otc. but it will bleach your clothes/towels, so watch out for that!

Kat Von D lock it foundation is a serious foundation but I love it. The colour selection and staying power are wonderful. It is a little heavy for some people’s tastes but I require the full coverage for my acne and scarring. If you have a sephora near you you can get a sample and try out a few different application methods before hand. I found YouTube really helpful as well!

Revlon Colorstay has insane coverage and goes on perfectly, been using Revlon for over 5 years now and I have never had a problem, its on the cheaper side too compared to the other brands mentioned above. Will probably be using this for the rest of my life lol!

I’m a big bad minerals fan! I had bad acne as a teenager and never truly recovered… Accutane level bad….

something you might want to consider: monistat chafing gel has the same ingredients as the smashbox primer, but it’s only, like, $7 and it works just as well. some women don’t like the idea of using a chafing gel on their face because it “doesn’t sound pretty.” i don’t care about that, haha. i care about saving money.

cover fx will cover anything – it’s water based and was formulated by a dermatologist who worked in a burn unit to use on her patients – it will literally cover anything and it’s amazing 🙂
