I’ve been asked by my stylist to select a lip color for the wedding day, which I’ll need to have ready for my upcoming makeup test as well.
I’m not a glossy, sticky, or waxy lip color-wearing person — I prefer long-wearing, stain-type colors that I won’t need to reapply. My future husband also hates anything that rubs off on his lips. And we’ll be kissing a lot that day, of course!
I use the Revlon Colorstay Ultimate (http://www.revlon.com/Revlon-Home/Products/Lips/Lipcolor/NEW-ColorStay-Ultimate-Liquid-Lipstick.aspx) in Buffest Beige during the workweek, which checks all the boxes, but I’d like to try something higher-end for my wedding day.
Any suggestions? Or should I just stick with what works already?
Oh, and this is my inspiration photo:

@leenh78: I’ve been a “high end” department store makeup girl for decades, and honestly, NOTHING BEATS this new Revlon Ulitmate Suede lip color. It goes on like lipstick and sets up like a stain. It has a nice sheer-to-build deep pigment and comes in a slew of shades to match any occasion!!! My favorites are Couture and Fashionista (a berry pink, and a deep red) they stain nicely enough that they do NOT transfer, and I honestly get between 12 and 16 hours of color out of one application!
If you’re really bent on getting a high end treat, the best one I’ve used is Chanel duo lip color and gloss. The color stays put alright, but the drawback is, the color end feels a little like vinyl, and the gloss/sealer is a bit greasy. But it WILL stay put and not transfer!
For about $10 I just don’t think you can beat Revlon for performance and comfort. The Chanel will set you back between $40-$50 if I can remember!

@Sweetjennygirl: I’ve gotten into the habit of using only high-end cosmetic products, and hadn’t even heard of the Revlon lip stuff. Sometimes, drugstore products work just as well. If the OP likes what she already uses, she may as well wear it during her wedding day!

I will be using L’Oreal Infallible lip colour in Thistle. I have been using it for a few weeks now to try it and it really does stay on even after eating/drinking. I only have to re-apply it after maybe 4 hours because it does start to crack a little after a few hours.

This NARS lip gloss pencil is amazing. I hate to wear anything on my lips other than Burt’s Beeswax but this pencil doesn’t bother me at all. I wish I could afford to buy one in every color. I got the one I have as a deluxe sample and when I use it up, I will probably end up buying one.

MAC Pro Longwear Lipcolor! All you have to do is reapply the clear gloss through out the day. It doesn’t wear off and there are some nice colors to choose from.

Covergirl Outlast worked great for me on the wedding day…and was chosen by my MUA (which surprised me because most of the products she used were more higher end).
