What about something like this (but the same pants as the groom)? I think if he has the same pants on, he can wear any color/pattern shirt, as long as it’s subtle. And perhaps a tie that blends in with the shirt?

Uh oh, brownish? What the heck, haha? That could mean, like, a lot of things. Well, khaki coordinates pretty well with brown, so he could go for the khaki pants.

@pengoala:  And somehow I just now noticed the sunglasses. Hehe! So cute.

Hmm, I don’t know! Is it linen like beach-y linen? I think it’s OK if the textures aren’t too different. As long as the khakis aren’t too stiff/starched looking.

@pengoala:  A shirt and tie, without jacket, is an ok look, but not a great one.  My first reaction is a jacket and the same type of pants, an oxford cloth, button down shirt.  Maybe a colour, maybe white, no tie.

He could also go nice pants and a shirt – but make sure the pants and shirt fit immaculately.  That’s really not that hard though; getting pants and shirts altered isn’t that big of a deal, and shouldn’t cost that much.  If money isn’t an issue, I’d take the opportunity to get a nice 3-piece suit made, and then let BIL (or his FI, if he doesn’t care) choose the configuration of the pieces for the wedding.  Just have a fashion show one day, and get it settled.  You could also do the same thing with your DH’s existing wardrobe.

@pengoala:  Not if it’s a softer jacket – a tweed or corduroy, maybe, or just something in a less formal fabric – and if you pair it with a really nice pair of jeans.  But he could totally wear a shirt and no tie, if it’s that casual.  Get a really great belt – like totally splurge on it.  Spend $250 on an amazing belt!  Then wear a really nice pair of pants and an awesome shirt.  But if your husband really prefers to wear a jacket, he should wear one.  Something vintage would probably be a good fit.  Try this site:

@pengoala:  Cheapest man alive – like if he was any more cheap, he wouldn’t pay for shelter, food, or water? 😛
