I was reading about how you use 20% of your stuff 80% of the time, and it got me thinking- what is the best money you have ever spent?
Mine:
eye surgery- no more glasses or contacts!
my favorite dress from White House Black Market
my coach purse
What's yours?
ooo fun, I'll play!
-my breast reduction (omg amazing)
-my ghd straightener
-winter ugg boots
-dvr!!
that was fun :)
ooh, I wanna play, but I can't think of anything really awesome! :-/
I guess the money to go on the conference where I ended up meeting my FI?
My Lasik surgery is definitely one of the best things I've ever spent money on too!
The $99 Joe's jeans I got at Nordstrom's anniversary sale and wear them all the time.
The elliptical DH and I got eachother for Xmas off of Craig's list--I was able to quit our gym memberships, and I work out a lot more now that the equipment is right there in my house
Aside from the land we own....
The best $40 i ever spent was on my dog. seriously id pick him over anything in the entire world. My neice asked me yesterday if i would sell him for 300 Million dollars lmao. I told her no. hes just irreplaceable <3
a few other "materialistic" things:
-wedding vow renewal dress
-wedding pics
-KVZ purse
-my cell phone
-an ink drawing i have in my bedroom that is stunning and i enjoy looking at it all the time!
-slow cooker
-classical guitar
-chanel purse
- my MacBook - 4 years and still runs as good as the day I bought it
- I have a camelbak water bottle that I never leave the house without, it's glorious
- dance lessons for my FI and my first dance. I LOVE to dance and he was shy about it because he felt stupid and didn't know what to do. Now he takes me dancing all the time!
-Our dog and all of her expenses
-Getting SCUBA certified (certainly don't use that 80% of the time but I LOVE it).
-My money spent travelling while I worked abroad for the summer (got to go all over SE Asia)
@Pomapoo: I want to buy an Erg (aka rowing machine) to have at home once we have a house. I'm sure I'd exercise so much more having it right there!
$4 on a laser pointer toy for my cats. And the $6 on their catnip mist.
The money I spend monthly on my car payment. Somewhat sucks, but completely worth it to have a car that I love to drive and is reliable.
Anything I've bought from Lacoste? The happy alligator makes me happy!
A Dualit toaster. It cost $400 and it was worth every penny. The local newspaper even did a story on it because they were looking for people insane enough to spend that much on a toaster, of all things. We had a toast-off with a cheap Cuisinart brand and mine won. lol
Right now I'd have to say our cradle swing for the baby. It's been a life saver during fussy time!
Does it have to be expensive?
--Mary Jane Crocs: I wear those things so much it's not even funny (even at my wedding!)
--Nook: Freaking love it!
--Iphone: Use it everyday... I was hesitant on the smartphones, but it comes in handy pretty often!
The $80 I spent on my dog. Without hesitation. And all the money I've spent on her since.

Fun!
@Miss Biner: Yayyyyyy corgi! My fiance and I want one more than anything!
DH and I are movie and video game whores, so ours would have to be...
- 42" plasma tv
- PS3
- XBOX 360
- all our old-school consoles and cartridges that we're still as hooked on today as we were as kids
For me personally, my iPhone and my messenger bag.
Oversized leather couch from Restoration Hardware- love! I would buy it again and again and again...
I forgot to put my guitar- technically a gift, but I know what it cost, and I have gotten way more enjoyment out of that than what my parents paid for.
The $100 to adopt our wonderful cat, and everything we've spent since then (not much, so far)
My $150 high-heeled leather boots - this will be my 3rd season with them; I just had them re-heeled, and they are never going out of style. I love them.
Technically it was my then-BF, now-husband's money, but the KitchenAid stand mixer he got me. I love it SO MUCH and use it all the time.
For the wedding: the money we spent on the catering. The food was amazing, everyone loved it, and the event manager essentially acted as a DOC. She was perfect.
- The $6/month I spent to be able to send private messages to my now fiance. We somewhat met online.
You know what? Most of the awesome things I have were gifts. Our Keurig, wedding gift. My straightener, Christmas gift. My KitchenAid, Christmas gift. My laptop, Christmas gift.
My parents give awesome gifts....
Gifts are fine to add as well- I like buying things that I end up using a lot, and I get great ideas from you Bees!
One more- my ipad (got from FH when he bought the ipad 2) but definitely well spent.

all of the money I spent on a going away party I threw for my best friend since she was moving to Indonesia for two years. I remember cringing everytime i swiped my debit card but the party was an absolute blast. It was my first house party and didn't realize how expensive parties could be. I wouldn't trade it for the world. It was worth every penny.
I can think of very very few physical things that I love THAT much...but every dollar I've ever spent traveling has been worth it all and more. It's taken me to Italy, Greece, England, Iceland, Scotland, Holland, Portugal, France, Spain, Turkey, Dominican Republic, Australia, etc. I'm very budget conscious, and my fiscally responsible parents have always told me that you'll never regret the money you spend on traveling and visiting loved ones.
An annual New Years get together with my closest friends...
A few vintage dresses, gloves, and purses that were gifts/inherited are probably my most prized 'possessions.'
I've contemplated laser eye surgery...it may have to be next on the major purchases list!
I live in Cleveland and I used to hate winter (lake effect snow!) until I bought a full length down puffy coat from Eddie Bauer. I love it. I can go outside in a bikini and this coat and never be cold!
Have to say I also love my iphone. So helpful, so often!
Professional garment steamer. Much easier than ironing. We use it almost every day.
My dog and cat. And the animal hair vacuum to go with them. Every penny I ever spent on my horses. My iPhone(from which I am typing now!). A good pair of boots and a good pair of black flats. I actually need to go get another pair of black ballet flats because I just wore a hole in mine, lol. My tuition. And money spent on vacations and to treat ourselves to a date night every now and then. Also, anything used on my crazy impossible hair. And a professional garment steamer!
Like other posters, I would say the $100 adoption fee we spent to adopt our puppy, Toby!
Other than that, I would say our plasma TV (I fought against this purchase, but was so happy that we ended up getting it!)
Any of the expensive shoes I have - they may cost a lot upfront, but they have lasted so much longer than any of my cheapie ones.
AND - - DH and I just bought hockey season tickets. Super pricey, but we love going!
Laser hair removal. I still have to shave, but way less often and it cleared up a chronic skin infection that a derm told me I would only get under control and never get rid of. Not having bleeding oozing armpits that make me dread wearing clothes - totally worth every penny!
this dress for my mom..i paid $7.99 for it! She will be wearing it for the wedding. :)

@Heartly: Oh yes, I didn't think to include travel, but there's no doubt that it's worth it for me. Getting to see people I love and explore new places - worth every penny.
I'm still a broke college student, but when I do have some moo-lah to spend, here it is (please don't laugh, my budget is smaller than some, haha):
-T3 Hair Dryer (the best investment for long, thick, curly/wavy hair!)
-Tons of grocery goodies from Trader Joe's!
-Good underwear and bras from Victoria Secret (feel guilty at first, but so happy in the long run!)
-Hairspray from Sephora (forget the name of it, but it smelled amazing!)
-1995 BMW 740i (she's my new baby, not brand new, but SO much better than my first car)
-Smashbox Brow Wax (I have thick eyebrows and this was a great spend)
-Hot Tools Cermaic Tourmaline Curling Iron (not that pricey, but worth every penny to make great waves and curls!)
-My wedding dress! (purchasing this October, woo hoo)
-A future splurge might be a Mac laptop. Not sure yet.
-Can't forget tuition, although it's mostly loans to re-pay. It's going to be well worth it!
Sweet, what a great question!
- My Roomba, and then later my mom's roomba (best gift I've ever given!)
- My Nexus One smartphone (HOW did I ever live without a smartphone before!?)
- Our organic, natrual latex mattress (I swear, I use it everyday! :P )
- The cargo net for the back of our hatchback
- My CAA/AAA membership (I get discounts in the weirdest of places with it)
I would love to get Lasik, but my eyes won't stop changing! You guys are makin' me jealous. ;)
The $240 adoption fee for my babies, and the $3500 we spent on Cleo's surgery after she ate 13 hair ties.
The $20 vinatage brown leather jacket I found at a salvos store. It fits me like a glove, and I wear it all the time!
The $2 silicone egg rings. Genius.
Gratuitous pet photos:

Cleo as a baby.
Cosmo as a baby. (He is fabulous, lol)
I have a TON of things, but to name a few:
-Gym membership, lost 20 pounds
-MAC Laptop, love love love it.
-New king size tempur-pedic mattress, best sleep ever
-Blackberry, couldn't live without it and it has came in handy so many times!
