I'm not sure if you're going to find a nice beach on the Jersey shore. I grew up there and the beaches aren't exactly beautiful in my opinion.
Ahh boo! Our beaches are fine! I personally don't go to "public" beaches, I find spots that aren't over run with tourists that leave their trash everywhere. Not sure how far away you are, but Ocean City is nice, which is where I go several times a week during the summer. A friend of mine actually got married on the beach in OC a few years ago. It was nice, but you couldn't hear them say their vows, it was really hot and tourists were like right next to us. I would have planned for it but I didn't want to be hot at my wedding...so I chose November! LOL!
Cape May, Beach Haven, Bradley Beach, Spring Lake, Pier Village, Sandy Hook... There are lots of beautiful beaches, try searching private beach clubs in the county that's closest to where to want to be.
Also, if you are willing to travel a little further, there are a lot of less touristy beaches in Delaware and Maryland.
@MissAsB: No nice beaches at the jersey shore? home girl you must be crazyyy. Cape May is gorgeous. As are all the beaches on Long Beach Island (Beach Haven, Surf City, etc). And Ocean City.
And OP - what do you mean by close to Pennsylvania? Do you have a specific town you'd like to be close to (like Philly)?
My only advice for anyone planning a beach or outside wedding in general is to be sure to have Plan B ready to go in case of storms, rain etc. I love Ocean City, NJ but personally would not marry there on the beach. Observed one couple one late afternoon in fall, and as often happens, the guests wore heeled shoes and had trouble not only from sinking in the sand, but also getting caught on the boards of the boardwalk. Be sure, ladies, to consider providing every female guest with complimentary wedding ballet shoes for use on the sand. Also remember, beaches everywhere are attractive because of cool breezes, which also can bring sand up into the faces of your guests. Why not consider an NJ vineyard instead? NJ wineries have been recently touted as one of the great places to be. And, the Gardens for Sculpture is an absolutely beautiful place to wed. Guess what? Even the battleship NJ lets you host a wedding under stars on this gorgeous ship's deck under the stars!
Wow, I didn't realize there were so many great new response to this thread (I am the ultimate threadkiller, LOL!) Thanks ladies!
@JrzyGurl:Hi there! Yes, close to Philly is more what I was thinking, as I'm in that region.
@shawn.hughescamp:Thanks for the great ideas! I hadn't considered a lot of those options, but I will now!
I'm loving all the great ideas and suggestions, please keep them coming!
My daughter got married on the Bay on Long Beach Island, and the beach is just 2 blocks away. We were originally planning a wedding on the beach in Avalon, but after going down to watch one, we changed our minds. The beach was filled with sunbathers and beach umbrellas, and everyone in their bathing suits just standing around and watching. The only way you'll avoid that is to have it on the beach in off-season.
There's plenty of beautiful beaches in NJ as have already been mentioned!
I love LBI and highly recommend getting married there. It is very beachy, not touristy, and everyone is so friendly. I'm getting married at Bonnet Island and have been having an amazing experience!
The barnegat lighthouse is AMAZING to have a ceremony at. You should google visit lbi region and a website will come up with a wedding link. IT IS AAAAAMAZING!!
i got married in cape may. IT was beatiful, wonderful, lovely, fun. Such a nice place and not expensive - our whole wedding including renting the beach house was 5k for 25 people for a 4 day weekend.
Yep! Cape May. I'm from Pennsylvania, and we are getting married in Cape May. It's so Victorian, and quaint.

Hello,
Wondering if anyone has gotten married on the Jersey Shore? In particular, any of the beaches that are closer to the Pennsylvania region?
Suggestions/ideas for the best beach locations?
