Best online store to print 4 x 6 photos

posted 4 months ago in Beehive

Hi all, I am planning on printing out all the pics that have the guests at my wedding to include in their thank you cards.  As you can imagine, this is going to be several hundred prints if not a thousand prints!

What online site would you guys recommend that has decent quality coupled w/decent price.  I guess I'm not exactly looking for the cheapest, just the cheapest that has the best decent quality.  I don't want to send my guests crappy pictures!  hehehehe  Thanks for any recommendations!

Note that I will be using the high res files from my photographer.

I use Shutterfly.  They have reasonable prices and you can pick up prints at Target to save on shipping.  You can also choose between gloss and matte finish if that matters to you.

I use Snapfish.  Their 4x6 prints are 9 cents each, and regular shipping (no matter how many, and they usually arrive within a week) is  $1.99. I think you can also pick them up in a store for free, but I don't know which  one, since I always have them shipped to me!

i second Snapfish!! i had tried all these diff online companies back in the day: shutterfly, ofoto, sony imagestation (when they used to sell digital prints), and snapfish. Snapfish always won with quality for me. their pictures print with great color and vibrance and outshined their competitors so now i ONLY print with them.

I'm thirding Snapfish - great quality, great price, an tons of options.  I've never gotten a bad print from them!

Ok, I'm not sure about quality, but I just used CVS online.  The prints are 12 cents to be picked up in the store, but there are no shipping costs.  Also right now, they have a deal where you buy 50 but pay for 30. Also when you sign up you get 50 for free.  I just got 200 photos for $12.

i'm a snapfish fan too.  And they have great coupon codes to be found online as well.  Sometimes they are for free shipping, sometimes X amount of free prints.  Def look for a coupon code before ordering with them.

www.mpix.com

They are a profesionall priting site. In fact most the photographers I know use them now.

Prices are .19 for 4x6 and .89 for 5x7

I have used several other sites and they crop the photos, or mess up color (somthing most people wouldn't notice but as a photographer..I do) and they also have terrible customer service. After they screwed up my order it took me 6 months to get and compensation. This is at Snapfish and Winkflash. After that, I went some where where they really care about the photos coming through and don't just have popel shoving prints in envelopes with out being inspected.

I say as the price is compareable to others, go profressional. WHy not if it's not anythig more then a few cents.

I've only used snapfish and have a mixed review of them. <span class="Apple-style-span" style="text-decoration: underline">Most of the time we've gotten our pictures with no problems. A few others the pictures were no where to be found and eventually arrived a few weeks later (way after we had to contact snapfish & get another set shipped out asap for free). It was really frustrating considering they were pictures we needed for our reception.

I do like however that you can order larger prints from them and pick them up in staples.

Has anyone used Costco?  I'm just thinking if I should check them out first before I try Snapfish.  Thanks!

I second mpix...professional photos for 20 cents...REALLY awesome quality. If you wanted to print some photos for you and DH, I recommend the Kodak Metallic paper...it makes colors and images pop. It's 60 cents a print, but well worth it!

Joeysgirl2008 and Sweeney2Be...

Do either of you know if I can print the images from the disk I purchased from my photographer (I have the rights to print them) at mpix.com?

you upload your pictures to MPIX and then select the ones you want. I definitely recommend them! my husband is a photographer and he swears by them.

My photographer just told me about mpix.  I tested it out, and uploaded some of my e-pics to be printed. They came out absolutely AMAZING!!! I HIGHLY recommend the metallic paper.  It just looks phenomenal.  I could go on an on.  Use MPIX.com, it will look like your prints were professionally printed, and it's worth every penny.

Also, if you use a site such as Shutterfly, look at their pre-purchase plans. Since you have a rough idea of how many pictures you need (and maybe will print some other wedding photos for yourself), the prepaid plans will help you lower the per photo price.

Take advantage of the free offer, test the color quality with a small order, and decide what works best. Shutterfly has so-so layouts, but you can also create your own in Photoshop to use. Also, I really like their shared site service so you can have a photo website for everyone to view each others pictures.
