@SarahBabs: One MAJOR warning for taking engagement pictures in the park this weekend is that it's Marathon weekend. A good chunk of the park is going to be swarmed with marathon runners, activities, etc. Especially on Sunday, but I imagine Saturday will be affected too. Just a thought.
@hotchildinthecity: Oh my goodness, I didn't even think of that! Thanks for the heads up!
@Miss Longcoat: @BoiledPNut: Thanks :) I'll check those out! Where in the park are they roughly located?
Definitely the Bethesda fountain. :) Could take some cute shots on a swing set in a playground too. Canoe ride sounds fun.
Also, you might want to make sure you don't need a permit to take photos? I think I remember you mentioning the photog is your sister or SIL. Not sure what the guidelines are for that...
@sarahbabs: If you find that Central Park is too crowded, you can always head over to Riverside. In CP I think Bethesda Fountain is really pretty, and I love Shakespeare's Garden as well. Belvedere Castle is really romantic (might need a permit there, I'm not sure). Bow Bridge is really iconic too. Have fun! :)
@techie: She's not, she's a friend of my fiance. I feel like the permit is only for weddings (totally not sure about this). I guess we'll chance it and leave if we need too lol
@hilsy85: Thanks for the suggestions :) I just hope the weather stays pretty!
Central Park is in total disarray right now because of the storm last Saturday. Branches are down everywhere & many trees split. I think the fountain will be your best best as there will likely be crews trying to remove branches and trim trees. You might want to go and scout out the park tomorrow or Friday if you can so you know what you are working with.
Good Luck!
Bow Bridge is on the west side of the park. It's not far from the Imagine Mosaic.
You don't need a permit if its under a certain amount of people...I had 17 people and we were fine..we took some pictures there....For time reasons we didn't want to go to into the park ..so we entered around 57th and 5th and tooks some there.....
i'm not sure how the storm has impacted the trees in that area, but we started at 59th and 5th and walked into the park from there...there are some gorgeous spots there and with the fall foliage for the (remaining) trees, it'll be beautiful around there these days! plus it's a bit off the running path so not blocked off for marathoners.. have fun, it's supposed to be gorgeous this weekend!
I'm thinking of using Central Park for my engagement photos too! It's a great location for taking pictures. I would add The Mall to the list of great suggestions everyone else gave. It's a long road lined with trees on both sides. You should go to Central Park's website. They have a map of where everything is and a picture to go along with it.
@hilsy85: FYI - We took pics at Belvedere Castle and a bunch of other places in CP without a permit.

Hey all you lovely bees!
My fiance and I are getting our engagement pics taken in Central Park this weekend, and I am SO excited!
But since the park is just so darn BIG and there are so many places to take pics, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of particularly picturesque spots in the park? Or an area to start in?
Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks so much :)
