I don't know about incentives but--
I enjoyed using Bed Bath and Beyond because the 20% off coupons make a lot of people very happy.
Macy's was great in terms of the tabletop completion program and their Friends and Family 25% off sale (it was about a month after our wedding). They did buy 3, get 1 free on our china AND it was 25% off. I know they do something special if you have a credit card through them where you get a certain percentage of the value of gifts purchased on a gift card. We didn't mess with that though.
Several stores, including Macy's and Crate and Barrel, have scanning parties where you get snacks and a gift for attending and registering with them.
I can tell you NOT to register with Chef Central. Everything about them was a disaster from day 1!!!!!! A person paid to have items shipped to my house because she couldn't attend the shower and Chef Central had the nerve to wrap a damaged item -- the item had a big dent in it AND the box was all dented up -- who would wrap something like that? Their scanners didn't work in the store when picking out items. I was mad about the dented item thing and called them and they WILL not give you any CASH back. I told them I wanted CASH for the dented item as well as wanted to cash in my gift cards people had given to me. They wouldn't do it. I don't want to go there to buy anything, but I have all this money to spend. I was very dissapointed in Chef Central as a Coorporation to say the least!!!!
Bed Bath and Beyond is awesome! Their return policy is amazing (you can get cash, exhange the item, or get store credit), the selection is great, AND I know that there are some events after your event date where you can get 20% everything on your registry that wasn't purchased. Plus their website is easy to use and add things to your registry with.
Macy's has some amazing sales, but their customer service has been horrible for our guests.
I believe both Bed Bath and Beyond and Crate & Barrel have registry completion programs. I think BBB is 20% off and C&B is 10% off.
bed bath and beyond is a 10% completion discount. it's better to just save up their coupons and go in with a stack and buy what you want off your registry at the end. (yes, you can do this - they take expired coupons and multiples, but one per item only!)
Macy's has great sales.
If you're looking to accessorize your home I'd recommend Pottery Barn. I picked it for it's China (we're more casual people) and have LOVED the bedding, small house wares, everyday stuff. I could go on forever!
We did Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma and Jonathan Adler and didn't have a problem with any of them. And Williams Sonoma already mailed us our 10% off coupon for anything we want!
We did Crate and Barrel and love it so far..we also did Target because I LOVE Target but unfortunately all their stuff is constantly going out of stock, its supper annoying!

I am registered through them AND I sell the stuff, so I get additional discounts too. I am obsessed with their stuff, and it's like hosting a party - you earn free products by registering through them!
We're also registered through Target and Traveler's Joy for our Honeymoon Registry.

If you have a Macy's card you a gift card with 5% of the value of what your guests purchase from your Macy's registry plus 10% of most of your Macy's card purchases (between the registry date and the wedding date). This is in addition to the 10% of registry completion that can be combined with other sales.
My friend said it was a really nice way to finish off those last few pieces!
